Job Summary
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic and hands-on partner supporting employees in a light manufacturing environment at our Code 3 facility in St. Louis. This role is responsible for aligning HR practices with operational goals while managing core HR functions including employee relations, recruiting, performance management, payroll administration, compliance, benefits coordination, and workforce development. The HRBP works closely with plant leadership to support a productive, safe, and engaged workforce.
Essential Responsibilities and Functions
Human Resources Partnership
- Partner with plant leadership to support business objectives, workforce planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Provide guidance to managers and supervisors on employee relations, attendance, performance management, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
- Support organizational change initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Promote a positive workplace culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and respect.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Investigate and resolve employee concerns, complaints, and workplace issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
- Maintain HR policies, employee handbook updates, and required labor law postings.
- Support compliance with OSHA, FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, wage and hour regulations, and EEO requirements.
- Coordinate unemployment claims and responses.
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Manage full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried positions including posting jobs, screening candidates, interviewing, and coordinating offers.
- Partner with supervisors to identify staffing needs and workforce gaps.
- Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding activities.
- Ensure completion and maintenance of I-9s, background checks, and onboarding documentation.
Payroll Administration
- Process multi-state biweekly payroll accurately and on schedule for the Americas.
- Review timecards, attendance records, shift differentials, overtime, PTO balances, and payroll adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, including overtime and meal/rest break requirements.
- Coordinate payroll changes related to new hires, terminations, promotions, benefits deductions, garnishments, and tax updates.
- Serve as liaison with payroll providers and benefit vendors to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain payroll records and prepare payroll-related reports for management and audits.
- Assist employees with payroll questions and issue resolutions.
Benefits & Leave Administration
- Administer employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
- Coordinate annual open enrollment and employee benefits communication in conjunction with our parent company.
- Administer leave programs including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and other company leave policies in coordination with our leave provider.
- Reconcile benefit invoices and payroll deductions as needed.
Training & Development
- Coordinate employee training programs including safety, compliance, leadership, and skills development.
- Track required certifications and training completion.
- Support performance review and employee development processes.
HR Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate employee files and HRIS records.
- Support audits and maintain confidentiality of employee information.
- Participate in special HR and operational projects as assigned.
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent years of experience.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience, preferably with Workday.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and payroll regulations.
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems such as ADP, UKG, or similar platforms; Workday experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

- Exposure to moderate noise levels, moving machinery, forklifts, and varying temperatures when entering production areas.
- Requires the use of standard office equipment including computers, phones, printers, and copiers.
- May require occasional early morning, evening, or overtime hours to support payroll processing, employee meetings, investigations, audits, or business needs.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
