Position Overview
The HR Generalist serves as an experienced Human Resources professional, working closely with employees and managers to provide day-to-day HR support and ensure the consistent application of company policies, programs, and practices. This role supports employee relations, employee engagement, and compliance with California employment laws, as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations, while promoting a compliant, consistent, and positive employee experience.
The HR Generalist manages key HR operational areas, including benefits administration and Leave of Absence programs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and consistent employee support. The role also manages employee relations matters across exempt and nonexempt populations throughout the United States, including conducting workplace investigations and supporting timely and consistent resolutions. The HR Generalist provides practical guidance to managers regarding performance management, policy interpretation, and other day-to-day HR matters while supporting the effective administration of HR programs and initiatives.
This role is classified as exempt and follows a typical work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm local time, reporting directly to the Senior Director, Human Resources. The position requires flexibility and the ability to travel approximately 10% of the time annually to attend company meetings and support business operations.



Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Partnership
§ Partner with business leaders on day-to-day HR matters, providing guidance on employee relations, compliance, and best practices.
§ Manage employee relations issues, including investigations, conflict resolution, and performance management, ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant outcomes.
§ Manage Leave Administrator on FMLA, CFRA, and PFL, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a consistent employee experience
§ Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws (including FLSA), with a strong emphasis on California employment law, and alignment with company policies.
§ Support consistent application and interpretation of HR policies across business units.
§ Assist in evaluating HR programs and initiatives and recommend improvements as needed.
§ Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee relations matters and people management practices.
§ Manage full-cycle recruiting for assigned positions, ensuring a timely, consistent, and positive candidate and hiring manager experience.
§ Maintain current knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
Benefits Administration
§ Administer employee benefits programs, including new hire enrollment, Annual Open Enrollment, and changes related to Qualifying Life Events (QLEs).
§ Manage health care benefits within the HRIS, ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
§ Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
§ Conduct ACA-related audits and support compliance with federal benefits regulations.
§ Assist in the implementation and communication of benefits programs and initiatives.
§ Provide responsive, employee-focused support to ensure a positive benefits experience.
Qualifications
§ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience, and HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
§ 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience supporting managers in a business partner or generalist capacity.
§ Strong kowledge of California employment law and applicable federal regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, CFRA, ACA, and related compliance requirements.
§ Experience administering and managing Leave of Absence programs (including FMLA, CFRA, and PFL), ensuring full compliance with applicable laws.
§ Experience supporting employee relations, benefits administration, and Leave of Absence programs.
§ Ability to provide practical HR guidance to managers on employee issues and policy application.
§ Solid business acumen with the ability to support business needs through HR solutions.
§ Proficiency with HRIS systems, with attention to data accuracy and process efficiency.
§ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
§ Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
§ Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to handle confidential information with discretion.
§ Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
Ability to travel approximately 10% as needed.
