HR Generalist to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate: $60k - $70k
Position Overview: The HR Generalist will support day-to-day HR operations for a fast-paced manufacturing facility in Somerset County. This role provides hands-on support in recruiting, employee relations, performance management, benefits and leave administration, HR compliance, and HR initiatives that support a high-performing and safety-focused culture.
Responsibilities of the HR Generalist:- Recruitment & Onboarding:
- Partner with Hiring Managers to fill hourly and salaried roles.
- Post jobs, screen candidates, coordinate interviews and offers.
- Manage background checks, pre-employment steps, orientation, plant tours, and HR documentation to ensure smooth onboarding.
- Employee Relations & Engagement:
- Act as primary HR contact for employees and supervisors.
- Support consistent policy application, assist with investigations, and document findings.
- Help drive engagement, retention, communication, and a respectful, inclusive, safety-first culture across all shifts.
- Performance Management & Development:
- Support performance reviews, goal setting, and development planning.
- Coach supervisors on feedback, documentation, and corrective action.
- Assist with disciplinary and performance improvement processes and coordinate training for hourly and salaried staff.
- Benefits & Leave Administration:
- Serve as benefits contact for employees.
- Coordinate communications, open enrollment, and life-event changes.
- Administer FMLA, NJ leave, and other leaves, including tracking and documentation.
- Work with vendors and internal partners to resolve issues.
- Compliance & HR Administration:
- Maintain HR records.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and NJ-specific employment laws.
- Assist with audits, reporting, metrics, job descriptions, org charts, and safety/compliance initiatives in partnership with EHS and plant leadership.
- HR Programs & Continuous Improvement:
- Support HR projects, change management, and implementation of HR best practices and systems aligned with plant and corporate goals, with a focus on continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
Required Experience/Skills for the HR Generalist:- 3+ years of HR generalist experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Demonstrated experience supporting employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and benefits/leave administration.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Experience/Skills for the HR Generalist:- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build trust and credibility with employees at all levels and across all shifts.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Experience with NJ state labor laws is a plus.
