HR Generalist- Columbus

Ultimate Staffing is actively seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join their client's dynamic team in Columbus, OH. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity that offers the chance to work in both office and construction job site settings, providing a unique and engaging work environment. The HR Generalist will report directly to the Senior Human Resources Manager and will play a critical role in supporting HR Managers across various locations.

Responsibilities:

General Job Description:

This position is responsible for providing HR support services, including talent acquisition, onboarding, compensation and benefits, employee relations, talent and performance management, learning and development, and regulatory compliance initiatives. Success in this role requires professionalism, integrity, discretion, urgency, and responsiveness to client needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support HR Manager with employee relations issues and investigations, including attending meetings, taking notes, and summarizing findings.
• Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex matters to the appropriate staff.
• Provide training to new managers on HR-related processes and procedures.
• Assist with creating and updating job change letters and job descriptions.
• Review and provide guidance on background checks requiring HR review.
• Conduct and analyze exit interviews and make actionable recommendations.
• Support compliance efforts, including training, continuing education, and work assessments.
• Assist in the communication and development of policies and practices.
• Perform routine tasks to support HR programs, including compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, performance management, and training.
• Develop and maintain organized employee files and HR records.
• Maintain knowledge of HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
• 3-4 years of experience in an HR coordination role supporting non-union and union workforce.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Understanding of state and federal employment laws and collective bargaining agreements.
• Proven ability to work with tight deadlines and navigate through change.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google business suite applications, and online applications such as Zoom and Smartsheets.
• SHRM-CP and union experience preferred.

Additional Information:

Pay: $26-$34 per hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Location: On-site in Columbus, OH, with work between the office and construction job site
