National Mechanical Experts is seeking an experienced and motivated HR Generalist to join our growing team in Cornelius, NC. This role will support all areas of Human Resources, including payroll, recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, safety compliance, and HR operations.

What You'll Do
  • Process weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
  • Manage recruiting efforts, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding candidates
  • Administer employee benefits, leave programs, and HRIS records
  • Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding activities
  • Support employee relations and performance management initiatives
  • Manage workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs
  • Maintain OSHA logs and safety-related documentation
  • Assist with policy development, compliance initiatives, and HR projects
  • Support training, apprenticeship, and employee development programs
  • Maintain compliance documentation within third-party contractor management systems

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Human Resources experience
  • Minimum 1 year of payroll experience
  • Knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and benefits administration
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus
