The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing specific human resources duties and works closely with location/ facility managers and supports the HR Manager and HR Team. Supporting critical HR tasks including talent acquisition and onboarding, training, employment relations, labor relations, safety, policy implementation, employee engagement, HRIS and benefits for multi-site industrial facilities. The HR Generalist ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulatory agencies.

 

Essential Functions:



  • Plan and conduct recruitment efforts for supported locations in alignment with federal contractor regulations to ensure compliance. Coordinates all employment postings, responds to candidates, schedules interviews, coordinate interviews with hiring managers and responds to candidates. Monitors career path program.

  • Perform on-boarding tasks and conduct new employee orientation meetings including benefit review meetings.

  • Coordinates and implements the administration of company-wide human resources policies and practices in accordance with stated company objectives and federal, state and local requirements.

  • Administer and promote organizational communications, training, performance appraisal process, support compensation systems, and manage benefit program tasks and updates for assigned facilities.

  • Assist and provide support with benefits administration, leave of absence process, WC claims, change reporting, wellness, and employee experience champions.

  • Ensure successful and accurate management for federal contractor compliance, annual refresh, and applicant tracking responsibilities.

  • Supports HR Manager and Senior Management on issues and opportunities with workforce management.

  • Assist HR Manager in managing CBA and labor relations including grievance resolution and arbitration preparation as directed, if applicable to supported locations.

  • Partner with HR manager and location managers to ensure positive employee experience, employee relations, employee counseling, handbook and policy administration and employee recognition programs for assigned locations.

  • Maintains department records and human resources information, reports and other data and metrics.

  • Participates in HR and Company meetings as required.

  • Create and maintain relationships with department managers and supervisors and all supported employees.

  • Adheres to the Reliance Inc.'s Code of Conduct.

  • Maintains a high standard of confidentiality while working with highly confidential or personal information.

  • Assist with special projects as directed by the Human Resources Team.

  • Regular in office attendance is critical and may require up to 20% travel to assigned locations to perform duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor Degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience working actively in an industrial environment, as a Human Resources Generalist, or equivalent. Multi-location experience is helpful.

  • Ability to travel overnight up to 30% is required.

  • Recruiting experience for both hourly, professional/office and leadership positions is essential.

  • Strong knowledge of human resources principles and practices, employment law, federal contractor, and EEOC compliance.

  • Must be able to successfully work while multi-tasking and able to meet deadlines.

  • Work successfully with all levels of management and develop collaborative relationships.

  • Effectively communicate with both internal and external HR associates.

  • Demonstrate professionalism & diplomacy at all times including sensitive issues and information.

  • Able to motivate employees through employee engagement programs.

  • Make timely and sound decisions using demonstrated critical thinking and logic.

  • Strong organizational, time management and, problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Flexibility to work within a fast-paced environment that may require shifting priorities unexpectedly.

  • Must have a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products and HRIS/payroll tools.

  • Must be willing to work onsite at a location with limited remote work offered.
