Our client has an immediate need for a temporary HR Generalist to support their Human Resources department with personnel file maintenance, HR record accuracy, job description coordination, and general administrative support. This role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and organization, with the ability to review and maintain HR records to ensure completeness, consistency, and compliance across systems and documentation.
The HR Generalist is responsible for reviewing and updating employee personnel files, ensuring alignment between HRIS data (e.g., Gusto), job descriptions, and internal records, and identifying items requiring follow-up. The role also supports job description administration, including tracking and obtaining required signatures, as well as assisting with employee evaluation tracking, new hire file setup, recruitment documentation, and maintaining audit-ready HR records.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment & Staffing: Full-cycle recruitment: creating job descriptions, posting jobs, screening resumes, interviewing, and facilitating onboarding.
Record Management: Maintaining accurate, up-to-date HRIS data and personnel files. Complete files with appropriate and pertinent information.
Performance & Development: Supporting the management of in-house and online training and conducting exit interviews.
General Assistance: Administrative/Clerical support to strengthen file management of in-house and online files.
SKILLS:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, extraordinary interpersonal skills, proficiency in Gusto Payroll/HR system a plus, and knowledge of labor laws.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills with demonstrated ability to build trust across diverse constituencies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in Human Resources is preferred, with emphasis in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; however, additional years of HR experience may supersede this requirement.
HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
Experience in a tribal college, community college, or other mission-driven postsecondary institution.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Education: Associates Degree with emphasis in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; however, additional years of HR experience may supersede this requirement.
Experience: 35 years of experience in an HR role.
