BigFoot Staffing is partnered with a longstanding client to search for a Human Resources Generalist to support the day-to-day HR needs of their growing, multi-state organization.


This is a hands-on role with responsibility across employee relations, HRIS administration, compliance, onboarding, benefits, leave support, employee records, and HR projects. You will work closely with employees, managers, payroll, and the broader HR team to keep processes running accurately and provide a positive employee experience.


The ideal candidate is organized, approachable, comfortable managing sensitive information, and able to balance daily employee needs with larger HR initiatives.


What You’ll Do:

  • Coordinate pre-employment activities, including background checks, drug screenings, and new-hire documentation
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees, applicants, managers, payroll, and HR partners
  • Maintain accurate employee information and documentation within the HRIS
  • Process promotions, transfers, compensation changes, terminations, and other employee updates
  • Support HR programs related to compensation, benefits, leave, performance, employee relations, training, and development
  • Maintain I-9 documentation and employee records in accordance with federal, state, and company requirements
  • Prepare HR reports, compliance documentation, metrics, and year-end audits
  • Troubleshoot HRIS issues and provide system support to employees
  • Assist with employee investigations, disciplinary meetings, and terminations as needed
  • Support new-hire orientation, employee engagement, and recognition programs
  • Coordinate employee service anniversaries, gifts, and milestone recognition
  • Create and improve HR procedures, training materials, and standard operating procedures
  • Lead and support HR projects involving recruiting systems, compliance reporting, and process improvement
  • Monitor changes in employment law and help maintain compliant HR policies and practices
  • Maintain employee and applicant records according to retention requirements


Benefits and Leave Administration:

  • Serve as backup support for multi-state leave administration
  • Assist with eligibility review, documentation, employee communication, and leave tracking
  • Coordinate with employees, supervisors, and third-party leave providers
  • Support benefits administration, qualifying life events, claims, and open enrollment
  • Assist with vendor file feeds, billing reconciliation, and benefits documentation


What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • At least three years of HR Generalist experience within a multi-state organization
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and HR compliance requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution abilities
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar business software
  • Ability to work onsite in Portland, Oregon
  • Ability to travel less than 25% as needed


Preferred Experience

  • Three or more years of experience using UKG Pro and Workforce Management
  • Experience with California employment laws and HR practices
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification
