Job Details
We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to establish, develop, and lead the HR function for our client's Albuquerque operations.
This is not a role where you will walk into a fully developed HR department with established systems and processes. We are looking for someone who is energized by that opportunity.
The ideal candidate has previously worked in a hands-on HR leadership role where they have built, implemented, improved, or standardized HR processes. You should be comfortable assessing an organization, identifying areas of risk or inefficiency, prioritizing initiatives, and then personally driving those initiatives through implementation.
You will serve as the company's primary HR resource and work closely with executive leadership while remaining hands-on with day-to-day HR responsibilities.
Responsibilities include:
Assess current HR practices and identify immediate and long-term priorities
Build and formalize HR policies, procedures, workflows, and documentation
Evaluate HRIS and HR technology options and lead system selection and implementation
Establish effective onboarding and offboarding processes
Maintain compliant employee files and HR documentation
Oversee I-9 compliance and employment eligibility documentation
Support benefits administration and employee questions
Partner with leadership on employee relations matters
Develop and improve performance management processes
Support recruiting, hiring, and workforce planning initiatives
Review and update employee policies and handbook materials
Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements
Identify HR-related risk and recommend practical solutions
Develop reporting and processes that provide leadership with better visibility into the workforce
Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, CFO, and leadership team
Communicate HR initiatives clearly and effectively across the organization
Balance strategic HR projects with hands-on day-to-day employee needs
Qualifications
5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience preferred
Previous HR Manager, Senior HR Generalist, HRBP, People Operations, or similar experience
Demonstrated experience building or significantly improving HR processes
Experience implementing an HRIS or other HR technology strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of HR compliance and employment practices
Experience with I-9 compliance, onboarding, employee documentation, benefits, and employee relations
Ability to operate independently without an established HR department or playbook
Strong project management and implementation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Confidence working directly with senior and executive leadership
Ability to prioritize multiple HR initiatives and determine what needs to be addressed first
Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR is a plus
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants more than maintaining an existing HR function. You'll have the autonomy and executive support to build one.
