You operate as a true consultant rather than a transactional HR partner, focusing on complex, high-impact people challenges, influencing systems and processes, and driving long-term outcomes. The position offers significant exposure to stakeholders, cross-functional partners, and innovative HR technologies, providing strong visibility and growth opportunities in a hybrid work environment. Responsibilities + Coach and advise managers and employees on complex workplace matters, using AI-powered insights where appropriate to inform recommendations. + Provide expert consultation on career development, performance management, workplace behavior, and policy interpretation to support fair and consistent decisions. + Collaborate with HR Business Partners to support and enable strategic people priorities across the engineering organization. + Design and implement scalable, automated HR solutions that strengthen manager effectiveness and reduce manual effort across the HR lifecycle. + Identify opportunities to apply AI and process automation to streamline HR workflows, improve decision quality, and free up time for higher-impact consulting work. + Partner across a matrixed environment, including HR, Legal, and Compliance, to help shape local HR policies and practices. + Remain impartial and objective while applying HR practices, policies, and philosophies consistently to foster an inclusive and equitable workplace. + Lead the diagnostics and resolution of complex issues related to policy or culture concerns, violations, and incident or threat responses, independently or in collaboration with HR and Legal. + Recommend solutions to address employee relations issues based on established principles and culture, prioritizing employee experience and maintaining a safe and professional work environment. + Identify, raise, and escalate trends in employee relations issues, and work with the team to implement solutions, including AI-assisted analysis and automated workflows, to reduce future issues. + Provide expert consulting services in one or more HR program areas, influencing decisions related to HR programs, processes, and initiatives for specific businesses, regions, or geographies. + Analyze HR situations and cases, offering perspectives as a subject matter expert to guide managers and leaders toward balanced, high-quality decisions. + Use data and AI-driven insights to identify and anticipate training needs within the organization, and recommend customized solutions such as training and communications to address capability gaps. + Coordinate and/or deliver training to managers and employees to build capability in performance management, workplace behavior, and HR policy adherence. + Continuously evaluate HR processes to identify automation and AI-enablement opportunities, and partner with HR operations and technology teams to design, pilot, and scale solutions. + Apply organizational values and current HR policies in areas such as leave, retirement, immigration, and performance improvement programs, and advise employees and managers on policy compliance. + Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across different levels and functions to obtain information, influence outcomes, and drive adoption of HR solutions. + Lead conversations with stakeholders confidently, provide clear guidance, and ensure timely follow-up on open items and action plans. + Operate independently and navigate ambiguous situations with minimal guidance, demonstrating strong judgment, initiative, and a proactive mindset. + Focus on scalable impact by looking beyond individual cases to improve underlying systems, processes, and manager capability. Essential Skills + At least 5+ years of HR consulting or employee relations experience, including managing complex performance and workplace issues with strong judgment. + At least 5+ years of performance management expertise, including deep understanding of performance frameworks, coaching, and risk mitigation. + At least 3+ years of experience in data-driven decision making, including interpreting data, identifying trends, and applying insights to recommendations. + Demonstrated experience as a human resources consultant providing HR support and guidance to managers and employees. + Strong experience in employee relations, including handling policy concerns, workplace behavior issues, and incident response. + Proven ability to use data analysis to inform HR decisions and identify trends in employee relations and performance. + Experience in project management and program management related to HR programs, processes, or initiatives. + Strong stakeholder engagement and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate in a matrixed environment. + Demonstrated ability to work independently and navigate ambiguous work environments with minimal guidance. + Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, self-starter mindset. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and advise stakeholders at all levels. + Proven ability to build relationships and leverage networks to obtain information and drive outcomes. + Confidence in leading difficult conversations, providing guidance, and following up on open items in a timely manner. + Ability to adapt and remain productive in hybrid, remote, or less structured work settings. + Comfort operating in a highly matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders, including HR, Legal, and Compliance. + Ability to remain impartial and objective while applying HR policies and practices consistently to support an inclusive and equitable workplace. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience supporting large, complex organizations, ideally in technology or fast-paced environments. + Exposure to automation, HR tools, or process improvement initiatives, particularly in HR operations. + Experience conducting or supporting workplace investigations or complex case management. + Mindset focused on scale, with a tendency to look beyond individual cases to improve systems, processes, and manager capability. + Experience using AI-enabled tools or AI-powered insights to support HR decision making and workflow optimization. + Familiarity with HR programs such as leave and retirement, immigration processes, and performance improvement programs. + Ability to identify training needs and design or recommend tailored training and communication solutions. + Comfort with behavioral-style interview processes as a candidate, including participating without AI assistance. + Strong judgment and ability to make balanced, high-quality decisions under ambiguity and time pressure. + Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners, including HR Business Partners, HR operations, legal, and compliance teams.
