JOB SUMMARY:
This position will be responsible for performing HR-related duties in the following areas: managing the systems, data, and daily administrative and compliance processes that support the entire employee lifecycle; as well as managing the human element—resolving workplace conflicts and ensuring fair treatment to maintain a healthy work environment that reinforces company culture. The ideal candidate must possess a client-service orientation, analytical skills, and an ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
HR Operations & Administration
- Lifecycle Management: Oversee the onboarding and offboarding processes, system setups, orientation, and exit interviews. Maintain confidential employee files in compliance with State and Federal requirements.
- Data Integrity and Reporting: Maintain accurate employee data and records within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring data privacy and compliance. MXS currently uses APS. Build reports and dashboards to provide useful HR metrics that monitor trends and support business performance. Maintain the company organization charts.
- Process Optimization: Identify areas for continuous improvement in HR procedures to enhance efficiency and overall employee experience.
- Compensation & Benefits: Collaborate with the finance and payroll teams to process changes to personnel data, validate invoices, manage leaves of absence (FMLA/LOA), and address benefit inquiries. Manage and/or support the company’s various incentive compensation plans, as well as periodic compensation benchmarking.
Employee Relations
- Conflict Resolution: Serve as the first point of contact for employees and managers regarding workplace disputes, grievances, and disciplinary actions.
- Investigations: Conduct objective, thorough investigations into employee complaints (e.g., harassment, policy violations) and recommend corrective actions.
- Policy Implementation: Assist in developing, updating, and communicating company policies, the employee handbook, and HR guidelines to ensure fair treatment.
- Performance Management: Manage the overall process and advise supervisors and managers on addressing performance issues, providing coaching, and ensuring consistency in performance reviews.
- Communications: Develop and disseminate employee communications as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Work Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in HR operations, employee relations, or a combined HR generalist capacity
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Labor Relations, or Business Administration preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. PHR/SHRM-CP credentials preferred.
Related Experience:
- Understanding of state and federal employment laws and compliance standards
· Prior experience using APS or other modern HRIS platforms
- Advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills required; Power BI or other reporting tools preferred
- Familiarity with AI tools and willingness to build HR-bots and other time-saving applications
- Strong conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation skills. Ability to handle sensitive data with absolute discretion and tact.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to multi-task and juggle priorities
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary.
