Job Description

Position Summary:

The CVMBS Human Resources Partner (HRP), as a member of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS) Human Resources team, advises on, facilitates and provides expertise for HR professional services in employee relations and performance management. The HRP will partner with other CVMBS HR team members, CVMBS leaders/managers, as well as university human resources, office of civil rights, talent development, ombuds, inclusive excellence, and other university offices to carry out employee relations support and performance management responsibilities. They will partner with, mentor and develop local CVMBS departmental HR teams, serving ~2200 employees (faculty/staff, multiple employee types/groups). The HRP is accountable for administering and supporting policies, procedures and programs that will develop and sustain an inclusive, collaborative and high-performance workforce. This position will also provide training and professional development opportunities across the college, usually in partnership with other HR team members. The position reports to the CVMBS Director of Human Resources. This is an in-person role.

Description of Work Unit:

The College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences Human Resources team partners with seven academic and administrative college departments to oversee and lead the college’s Human Resources strategic and operational functions. The team is responsible for developing, administering, and supporting policies, procedures and programs that will build and sustain an inclusive, collaborative, transparent, accountable and high performance workforce; effectively elevating the college’s mission of improving the health of animals, people and the planet.


Essential Duties:

  • Provide consultation and guidance on complex employee relations matters, coordinating partnerships and resources across the organization.
  • Support employee engagement and workplace initiatives for ~2200 CVMBS employees.·
  • Advise and partner with supervisors, managers, and departmental HR teams on performance management strategies.
  • Oversee and continuously improve performance management systems and processes, partnering with university HR and leadership to align practices, support organizational effectiveness, and drive change management initiatives.
  • Deliver training, mentoring, and professional development for supervisors, staff, and HR teams, building HR competencies and ensuring effective implementation of employee relations and performance management practices.
  • Partner on safety, wellness, and compliance-related initiatives.
  • Analyze HR data, metrics, and systems to inform effective decision-making and develop tools/resources that support strategic goals and drive process improvements.

Supervision:

No formal supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or closely related field.
  • Minimum five years of broad HR generalist experience (relevant professional HR Certification may substitute for 2 of the 5 years).
  • Experience/expertise in employee relations and performance management.
  • Proficiency with HR technology (HCM, TMS, LMS, HRIS).
  • Proficiency with data analysis, interpretation and applied metrics to operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Experience developing and delivering training and professional development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in HR or closely-related field such as Organization Development, Public Administration, etc.
  • Experience in a medium to large size organization with a diverse/complex employee population.
  • HR experience at an Institution of Higher Education.
  • Current professional certification in human resources from a recognized certifying organization (e.g., SHRM, HRCI, or equivalent).

Salary Range

$75,000 - $90,000
