Contract HR Shared Services Coordinator role with a Downtown Houston client. This is a 6-month contract role with the potential to go full-time based on performance. 

Job Title: Coordinator, HR Shared Services

Location: Downtown

Parking Cost: $50-75/month for cheapest floor

Contract Duration: 6 months, potential for conversion to full-time.

Schedule: Hybrid – 1 WFH day on Friday

Pay: $27.89—$28.85/hour

Job Summary:

As a Coordinator, HR Shared Services, you will play a key role in supporting the centralized delivery of HR services across the organization. Your responsibilities will include scheduling interviews, initiating background checks, drug tests, and other required screenings. This role also includes broader HR operational support, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and efficiency in HR processes and employee experience. You will collaborate closely with multiple HR functions — including Talent Acquisition, HR Operations, Total Rewards, and Benefits — to provide seamless and customer-focused HR support to employees and leaders.

Essential Functions:
  • Facilitate background checks, drug tests, and other required screenings, ensuring candidates meet job qualifications and company standards to support responsible hiring practices
  • Serve as a first point of contact for HR-related inquiries from employees, managers, and business partners, providing accurate information or routing requests appropriately
  • Escalate complex issues to appropriate HR team members while ensuring follow-through and resolution
  • Ensure adherence to all DOT (Department of Transportation) hiring regulations and standards
  • Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws as well as current HR best practices
  • Support HR processes throughout the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, job changes, and employee data management within HR systems
  • Maintain and update employee records with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
  • Collaborate with HR business partners and specialists to ensure timely completion of HR transactions and service requests
  • Ensure all HR documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials
  • Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes and improve service delivery
  • Maintain strong communication and customer service skills while interacting with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality 

Basic Qualifications:

Education:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field

Experience:
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in HR administration or a shared services environment
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems (such as SAP SuccessFactors)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
