TheHR Specialistsupports a broad range of human resources functions, including talent acquisition, employee experience, HR operations, compliance, and employee housing. This position partners with employees and managers toprovideHR guidance, support effective and compliant hiring practices, and ensure a positive experience throughout the employee lifecycle. The HR Specialist helps promote A-Basin as an employer of choice while supporting a diverse, engaged, and high-performing workforce.
This position reports to theHR Managerand works closely with managers and the HR team toidentifyneeds, solve problems, improve HR processes, and support the day-to-day operation of the department.
WAGE:
The base hourly pay range belowrepresentsthe low and high ends of Arapahoe Basin’s hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based onvarious factors, including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, and responsibilities. The range listed is just onecomponentof Arapahoe Basin’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.
Salary range: $57,784- $74,868/annually
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Talent Acquisition, Employee Experience & HR Advisory
Provide HR guidance and consultation to employees and managers, using independent judgment to address employee needs and recommendappropriate solutions.
Promote A-Basin’s culture and values by supporting an accountable, engaged, high-performing, and inclusive workplace.
Partner with managers to assess staffing needs and develop effective, compliant recruiting strategies.
Advise managers on recruiting, interviewing,selection, and hiring practices and recommend process improvements.
Support diverse recruiting efforts by developing and posting job advertisements across appropriate recruiting channels.
Screen and interview candidates and provide recommendations to hiring managers.
Develop and recommend job descriptions, interview questions, and selection tools.
Ensuretimelyand consistent communication with applicants and support managers inmaintainingeffective recruiting practices.
Manage employee housing throughout recruiting and onboarding, including placement decisions based on eligibility, availability, and departmental needs.
Monitor housing availability and recommendappropriate allocationof available resources.
Conduct new hire and re-hire orientations and provide employees with a positive introduction to A-Basin’s culture, policies, and resources.
Coordinate employee events and internal communications that support engagement andthe employeeexperience.
HR Operations, Compliance & Administration
Administer HR processes and programs,identifyissues, and recommend improvements to HR practices and procedures.
Assistwith employee housing operations, including inspections, maintenance requests, move-ins, employee questions, andmaintainingaccuratehousing records and software.
Process employment and employee data changes in the HRIS whilemaintainingaccuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
Partner with the HR Coordinator to oversee onboarding requirements, including background checks, I-9 compliance, housing deposits, documentation, and start-date requirements.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure HR processescomply withapplicable federal and state requirements.
Respond to employee inquiries through our ticketing software (TDX), researching issues, providing solutions, and escalating complex matters as needed.
Administer employeeperksandbenefitprograms, including Real Deals, Medallions, Gold Coins, and other employee offerings.
Support employee offboarding and termination processes, including company property collection, pass deactivation, andHR procedures.
Participate in the 7-day-a-week HR operation and provide support across recruiting, employee relations, onboarding, offboarding, compliance, housing, benefits, communications, and employee events.
Maintain HR resources and supplies needed for effective department operations.
Follow departmental sustainability guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate has recruiting experience
1 year of administration, HR, or supervisory experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and public speaking ability
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability tomaintainconfidentiality
Ability to act with integrity and professionalism
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software,proficiencywith HRIS system or ability to learn organization’s HRIS system (Workday)
Ability to speak, read, and write in English
Must be available on weekends and holidays
This position requires successful completion of Motor Vehicle Record and criminal background check

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position will mostly work indoors – in an office setting while using a computer. This role works in an officelocatedin a high-alpine environment in all types of weather conditions. There is frequent interaction with employees, both electronically and in-person. There is a high amount of traffic through the HR offices throughout the day. Traveling and riding a chairlift may befor this role.
