HR Specialist II

Recruiting/Retention/Training Specialist

 

The HR Specialist II in the Recruiting/Retention/Training Specialist role will perform functions in the HR department related to Staff Development, Recruiting, Retention, and day-to-day Generalist duties. The priority duties for this role are the Staff Development responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The HR Specialist II in this role will conduct the following in regard to Staff Development:
  • ** Become Certified if required, and Instruct Classes in the following (all duties in this section are essential functions):
  • First Aid & CPR / Health & Safety Skills
  • Physical Crisis
  • Medication Administration (Student & Practicum Observer Training)
  • Onboarding New Hires
  • Fit testing

 

  • ** Track Training Hours for Warren and CEM/CJ Employees (all duties in this section are essential functions):
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments
  • Monitor Relias software for current employee training completion
  • Send training reminders to staff
  • Issue corrective action to staff out of compliance with CORE training and annual training requirements
  • Monitoring New Hire progress in Relias and other platforms; follow up with new employees to ensure compliance
  • Monitor on-site Completion for New Hires in conjunction with Scheduling staff; receive verification forms/scan & process as needed
  • Review Relias training completion for those on Med Holds/Returning from FMLA or other approved absences
  • Assist employees with queries about their training
  • Run CORE reports weekly

 

  • ** Medication Administration (all duties in this section are essential functions):
  • Track all Practicums & MAR Reviews for the program to ensure compliance
  • Scan and enter initial and annual certification documentation into SP and Medication Administration Dashboard as required
  • Track Practicum Observer certification requirements including supervised observations & MAR Review audits

 

  • Onboarding
  • Coordinate onboarding with Lakeshore Training Staff; schedule classes for the month or other time frame; create/update onboarding schedules
  • Coordinate on-site training with Scheduler/s after orientation dates are confirmed
  • Schedule all recertification classes for the month
  • Assist in coordinating inside/outside agency classes as requested by the director or other Lakeshore leader
  • Administrative tasks, including making copies for trainings and creating folders for onboarding; set up training room for classes (to include cleaning/vacuuming/emptying garbage)
  • Create Employee IDs; take photos and email to HR Specialist in Erie.
  • ** Maintain current certifications in order to teach necessary classes (essential function)

 

 

  • The HR Specialist II in this role will conduct the following in regard to Recruiting and Retention:
  • Recruitment and Retention
  • Post positions (with the assistance of other HR staff) on Indeed, internally, and My applicants

Monitor CareerLink; keep positions up to date & monitor applicants

  • Attend Job/Career Fairs as requested
  • Review resumes/applications
  • Schedule Interviews
  • Check judicial site and social media for potential new hires
  • ** Run compliance checks for potential new hires
  • ** Independently interview outside applicants & internal applicants
  • ** In conjunction with Director and Program Manager, interview House Manager/Program Manager positions
  • ** Conduct reference Checks
  • Assist Directors with new hire offers if requested and approved by the Director
  • ** Create New Hire Confirmation Letters; email packets
  • Send letters to rejected applicants
  • Schedule Paperwork Session with new hires & current employees being promoted/demoted
  • Create new hire packets, to include making copies, printing job descriptions, and creating acceptance letters
  • New Hire Paperwork Session – meet with new hires to complete paperwork prior to onboarding
  • Review New Hire Paperwork – scan/send to appropriate HR Specialist
  • Review Physicals – scan/send to appropriate HR Specialist
  • Collect benefits enrollment paperwork; send to Benefits Specialist

 

  • Employee Medical
  • Review Employee Physicals– scan/send these to appropriate HR Specialist
  • Review doctor excuses/return to work slips; scan/to appropriate HR Specialist

 

 

  • The HR Specialist II in this role will conduct the following in regard to HR Functions:
  • Corrective Actions
  • **Review corrective action regarding Meds Administration (required for the Meds Remediation Class)
  • Assist HR or Program staff as needed, to represent the HR team in corrective action conversations or other conversations of record.

 

  • Employee Status Sheets
  • As requested, complete Status Sheets for new hires and/or changes in status of current employees (promotion, demotions, separations)
  • Maintain Phone Lists and update monthly

 

Other Duties:

 

  • ** Certified Investigator: Investigations are assigned as necessary. Must maintain certification.
  • Attend regularly scheduled Staff Meetings and others as requested
  • Maintains compliance with all relevant Federal, State, and Local employment laws and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Eligibility Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR- or Business-related fields. Preference will be given to qualified applicants with HR, Education, or Business Administration degrees. Preference will also be given to qualified applicants with relevant experience in the disability management sector. Bachelor's degree and one year experience preferred. Preference will be given to qualified applicants with relevant experience in the disability management sector.
  • Associates degree in HR- or Business-related fields and five years of experience in relevant HR or Training positions. Preference will be given to a qualified applicant with HR, Education, or Business Administration degrees. Preference will be given to qualified applicants with relevant experience in the disability management sector.
  • Qualified applicants with no degree and five to ten years' confirmable experience in HR- or Business-related fields will be considered, with a concentration of work experience in Training. Preference will also be given to qualified applicants with relevant experience in the disability management sector.
