About the Role:


The HR Workplace Accommodations & Absence Manager is responsible for implementing and overseeing workplace accommodations and absence management programs ensuring the bank maintains policies and practices in compliance with local, state and federal laws. This role will include designing, delivering and managing day-to-day leave and accommodations programs with solutions and policies in line with the firm's human resources and business strategies.


Essential Functions


+ Oversee the accommodations and absence management programs interpreting and proactively administering the accommodation program and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (e.g., ADAAA, FMLA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, State Paid Leave plans, etc.).

+ Advise and make recommendations on workplace accommodation and absence management in accordance with applicable employment and leave laws, including the various state specific laws and ordinances.

+ Serve as a subject matter expert on regulatory requirements and emerging legislation impacting accommodations and leave.

+ Provide coaching and training to managers and HR partners on leave and accommodation policies, best practices, and compliance expectations.

+ Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with legal and organizational standards.

+ Maintain and enhance policies, procedures, and workflows related to accommodations and absence management.

+ Manage relationships with third‑party administrators, occupational health providers, and other external partners.

+ Collaborate with internal HR teams—including Employee Relations, HRBP’s and HR Operations—to ensure alignment and seamless service delivery.

+ Prepare reports and insights for HR leadership to support strategic decision‑making.

+ Monitor program performance and identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve employee experience.

+ Influence project timelines, expectations and proactively negotiates across departments and sometimes functional management.

+ Manage, coach and develop a team of HR professionals.


About You:


+ H.S. Diploma/GED, Required

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Business or relevant field, Preferred

+ 8-12 years of experience in HR, with a focus on absence management, workplace accommodation, generalist, HRBP or employee relations and/or other related experience, Required

+ 2+ years of proven experience as a supervisor, manager, or team leader, Required

+ Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.

+ Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.

+ Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description.

+ May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.

+ Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Columbia corporate culture in all actions and words.

+ Takes personal initiative and is a positive example for others to emulate.

The pay range for this role is $130,000.00 to $160,000.00.


The pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
