    Industrial Technology Education Teacher

    Position Purpose

    Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students understanding of industrial technology concepts and skills, including design, production, manufacturing, construction, and engineering principles; to provide students with hands-on learning experiences that promote problem-solving, critical thinking, and technical skill development; to prepare students for post-secondary education, skilled trades, and careers in technical fields; and to encourage the development of safe work habits, responsibility, and craftsmanship essential for success in industry and life.

    Essential Functions

    • Develops and administers industrial technology curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
    • Promotes a classroom and lab environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
    • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates them into engaging, hands-on learning experiences that maximize instructional time.
    • Teaches knowledge and skills in areas such as woodworking, construction, drafting, manufacturing, engineering basics, and the safe use of tools and machinery.
    • Provides instruction in the proper use, care, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and technology used in industrial and technical fields.
    • Emphasizes and enforces safety procedures, ensuring students understand and follow all safety guidelines in the lab environment.
    • Prepares appropriate instructional aids, demonstrations, and project-based learning experiences to enhance student understanding.
    • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning through projects, demonstrations, and performance-based tasks, and adjusts instruction to meet individual student needs, including those with special needs.
    • Integrates real-world applications, career exploration, and industry standards into instruction.
    • Maintains an organized, clean, and safe lab environment, including inventory and maintenance of tools and equipment.
    • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and stay current with industry trends, technologies, and educational practices through workshops, certifications, and professional organizations.
    • Organizes and maintains accurate records of student progress, grades, and attendance in accordance with district procedures and applicable laws.
    • Encourages parental involvement and maintains effective communication with students and parents regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
    • Ensures that student conduct aligns with school policies and establishes clear expectations for behavior to maintain a productive learning environment.
    • Collaborates with other staff members, including participation in PLCs, faculty meetings, and school committees.
    • Coordinates opportunities for students such as certifications, dual credit, internships, job shadowing, or partnerships with local businesses and industry.
    • Selects and requisitions appropriate materials, tools, equipment, and instructional resources, and maintains inventory records.

    Additional Duties

    Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

    Equipment

    Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

    Travel Requirements

    Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

    Work Schedule

    Standard teacher work schedule as set forth in the Teachers Unit Contract.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
    • Knowledge of business education curriculum and concepts.
    • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
    • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
    • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
    • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
    • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

    Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

    Work in standard office and school building environments.

    Certification/License:

    • State Certification as required for position.
    • Motor Vehicle Operators License or ability to provide own transportation.

    Education:

    • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
    • Masters Degree preferred.

    Experience:

    Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
