    Job Summary: Were seeking a dedicated and passionate High School Social Studies Teacher to join our team. Our ideal candidate is someone who values historical inquiry, civic engagement, and critical thinking, and believes in the importance of helping students understand the world around them. This teacher will engage students in analyzing historical events, understanding geographic concepts, and exploring economic and governmental systems through meaningful, culturally relevant instruction that prepares them for success beyond the classroom.

    In this role, youll design lessons that connect past and present events to real-world issues, guide students in developing strong analytical and discussion skills, and create a classroom environment where curiosity and critical thinking thrive. A strong working knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Grades 9-12 (World Geography, World History, U.S. History, Economics, and Government) is essential to ensure instruction aligns with state standards and student learning goals. Youll also play an active role in building a positive school culture through collaboration, consistent communication, and a commitment to the growth of every learner.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with TEKS and campus curriculum standards.
    • Teach social studies content including history, geography, economics, and government in ways that challenge and motivate students.
    • Review and implement accommodations or modifications outlined in students IEPs and 504 plans, ensuring equitable access to instruction.
    • Collaborate with special education staff and support teams to meet the needs of all learners.
    • Use a variety of instructional strategies to reach diverse learning styles and academic levels.
    • Assess and monitor student progress to inform instruction and provide meaningful feedback.
    • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment built on respect and high expectations.
    • Communicate regularly with parents, colleagues, and administrators to support student success.
    • Participate in campus events, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in History, Social Studies, Secondary Education, or a related field (Masters preferred).
    • Strong knowledge of TEKS for Grades 9-12 (World Geography, World History, U.S. History, Economics, and Government) and effective implementation strategies.
    • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
    • A genuine passion for helping students grow as informed, thoughtful, and engaged members of society.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Texas teaching certification (preferred but not required).
    • Experience teaching or supporting student learning in a secondary classroom setting, with demonstrated impact on student achievement.

    Compensation:

    • Starting competitive salary, commensurate with experience and education.
    • Annual increases based on verified years of teaching service.
    • Official service record must be provided upon hire to determine placement on the pay scale.
