Job Responsibilities/Duties
Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) delivers exceptional performance in safely removing, treating, and disposing of tank waste. H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste.

The Delta High School Internship Program at H2C provides professional development opportunities for students to gain valuable work experience on the Hanford Site. Selected students will get the opportunity for hands-on work experience in their area of study or interest. H2C and the Delta High School will collaborate to provide academic and professional opportunities for growth and development while helping students build the skills necessary for future professional employment. Opportunities may be available in support of project operations and project support services, engineering, or environmental fields to include the following STEM areas of interest:
* Chemistry
* Computer Science
* Engineering
* Environmental Science
* Information Technology
* Mathematics
* Physics
* Science
* Technology
Selected Interns will partner with Subject Matter Experts (SME), mentors and other staff in various organizations.
Specific project scope will be identified in interviews.
Applicant must be a student at the Delta High School in Pasco, Washington and participating in a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math course of studies. Internships are paid and will begin starting in the first trimester of the 2026-2027 school year in September 2026.
Required Qualifications
Student must complete/meet all employment and security requirements at time of hire, specifically:
* Must be 18 years of age
* I-9 eligibility for E-Verify
* Background Check
* Drug Test
* Attend H2C New Employee Orientation
* Complete Hanford General Employee Training (HGET)
Applicant must be a student at the Delta High School in Pasco, Washington and participating in a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math course of studies.
Student must have Program approval from the WBL Coordinator, Juli Troxel.

Hourly Rate: $18.26
In accordance with the Service Contract Act, this position is also eligible for the health & welfare wage adder of up to $4.93 per hour.
