    Job Description

    HSE Advisor (Freelance) - 3-Month Contract

    We are currently seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to join a leading civils and infrastructure project on an initial 3-month contract.

    As the HSE Advisor, you will work closely with project delivery teams, supply chain partners, and both internal and external stakeholders to provide practical, visible health, safety and wellbeing support. You'll play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and company standards across regional civils projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide professional Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HS&W) advice and guidance across civils projects
    • Support the planning, implementation and assurance of safe systems of work, including RAMS, permits to work, temporary works and lifting operations
    • Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineers and Supervisors to embed HS&W throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-construction through to delivery
    • Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety tours, ensuring actions are completed and continuous improvement is achieved
    • Support incident reporting, investigations and the implementation of lessons learned
    • Build strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners and project teams, promoting best practice and positive safety behaviours
    • Champion health and wellbeing initiatives, including occupational health, behavioural safety and mental wellbeing
    • Contribute to regional HS&W objectives, reporting and improvement initiatives

    Essential Requirements

    • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
    • Experience in a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor role within civils, infrastructure or utilities
    • Good working knowledge of CDM Regulations, temporary works and construction risk management
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
    • Ability to influence site teams, clients and supply chain partners
    • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region

    Desirable

    • Experience within Power, Transmission & Distribution or live utility environments
    • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or working towards a diploma-level qualification
    • IOSH membership (TechIOSH or GradIOSH)
