Summary
Job Description:
Performs general clerical and receptionist duties including medical record maintenance, order processing, typing, and/or word processing. compiles, processes and maintains medical records of detention facility patients consistent with medical, regulatory and federal/state requirements. Assures correct assignment of medical records numbers, retrieves medical records and/or lab reports for providers. Collects patient information, sorts and files reports. Updates record deficiency information, scans non-electronic document and maintains record keeping area. Assists visitors, nursing staff, and members of the health care team within the confines of a jail or detention facility.

- Skillful in the use of Hospital computer systems related to ADT order entry, requisitions, lab inquiries and other computerized processes and related software/hardware applications.
- Knowledge of clinical procedures and operations.
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment ordering and inventory control.
- Clerical, word processing and office skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instruction and safety precautions.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Required Experience:
Work Experience
Health Unit Coordinator experience in a Correctional Facility preferred.
Education and Training
High school graduate or equivalent.
Licenses/Certifications National Health Unit Coordinator certification preferred.
Certificate of completion of an approved/accredited Health Unit Coordinator program or
completion of the UMC HUC Training Program within 6 months from date of hire.
Other Requirements
Pre Employment Drug Screening, Background Screening and Security Clearance required.
