About the Role

HudsonAlpha is preparing to launch a large-scale, regional innovation initiative to drive innovation from farm to lab to marketplace. This initiative seeks to drive rural economic development through the development of biobased products. The Director of Operations will play a pivotal role in transforming strategic vision into actionable results for the initiative. As part of the leadership team, this position provides leadership and direction across programs that accelerate innovation, strengthen industry and community partnerships, and build capacity for long-term sustainability.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong execution skills, someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys solving complex problems, and is passionate about operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of operational strategies aligned with organizational goals
• Translate strategic objectives into measurable actions, milestones, and outcomes
• Manage and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative, mission-driven culture
• Oversee internal processes to ensure operational efficiency and continuous improvement
• Direct communications and marketing activities that enhance the visibility and impact of key initiatives
• Coordinate events, workshops, and stakeholder convenings that promote collaboration and knowledge sharing
• Build and maintain partnerships across academia, industry, government, and the nonprofit sector
• Monitor performance metrics, evaluate results, and provide data-informed insights to leadership
• Drive accountability, innovation, and alignment across teams to achieve program and organizational targets

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, or related field) preferred
• 5–7 years of experience in operations, program management, or a related field
• Proven success managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives
• Experience in biotechnology, life sciences, or other innovation-driven environments preferred
