Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Fitting Hull butts, critical inserts and penetrations
- Layout, fabrication, assembly and installation of foundations, structures, bulkheads, frames, components and deck packages
- Developing a working knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding operations
- Interpreting construction drawings/blueprints
- Aligning parts in relation to each other using jacks, clips and wedges through use of blueprints and templates
- Tack-welding structural parts as required
- Utilizing hands and power tools in the steel fabrication trade
- Ability to read and interpret written policies, procedures and guidelines as work assignments will be accomplished using company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures
- Work conditions may include entry in restricted/confined spaces
This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.

Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalentOR a minimum of 2 years related technical experience
- Shipfitting, metal fabrication and/or relevant experience or formal training
- Available to work all shifts
- Ability to work at heights, confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as required
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints, diagrams, and perform basic layout functions
- Basic mathematical skills
- Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools
Preferred:
- Steel fabrication or carpentry experience
- Experience working in the construction industry or a manufacturing environment
- Metal fabrication experience
- Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
- Military/Navy experience
