Job OverviewBe part of a world‑class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Human Centered Design Associate. This two‑year appointment develops a human centered design (HCD) core at HDSI to support clinical and operational leaders and scholars in addressing high‑priority healthcare delivery challenges.ResponsibilitiesWork individually and collaboratively with clinicians, administrators, scholars, technologists, vendors, patients, and caregivers to design and implement innovative clinical processes and systems.Partner with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, health‑system leadership, community leaders, and other stakeholders on improvement and research initiatives.Participate in hospital‑related information technology implementation, simulation, safety event evaluation, robotics efforts, and clinical teamwork analysis.Design communication and educational materials for patients and caregivers.Contribute to research projects, publish findings, and present results to diverse audiences.Mentor early to mid‑stage designers and build a design services program.QualificationsMaster's degree in design or a related field (e.g., systems engineering, sociotechnical systems design, psychology, computer science).Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.Minimum 2 years' experience in a healthcare clinical setting.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Proficiency in managing, interpreting, and presenting data.Familiarity with regulatory, accrediting, and external reporting requirements in healthcare.Self‑motivated, capable of working independently in an ambiguous and changing environment.Position DetailsJob Type/FTE: Part‑Time, 0.5Shift: DayWork Location: Hyde ParkUnit/Department: HDSICBA Code: Non‑Union#J-18808-Ljbffr
