GENERAL SUMMARY
The Human Resource Coordinator I provides support in all aspects of human resources including employee relations and assistance, benefits, payroll, safety, training, recruitment and hiring, records retention, and other administrative tasks and special projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Answers employee basic requests and questions with empathy and in a confidential and timely manner. Review advanced questions/concerns with Human Resources Coordinator II or CHRO.
- Assists in hiring process by coordinating job posting on the applicant tracking system, LinkedIn, and additional resources.
- Assists with recruitment and interview process. Reviews applications and performs telephone interviews. Coordinates and schedules interviews with all interviewers. Conducts entry to mid-level interviews with Hiring Manager and/or Branch Operations. Takes notes and aids in final hiring decision. Calls all interviewed applicants with decision and provides feedback.
- Prepares paperwork for new employee orientations. On a rotating basis with the Human Resources Coordinator II, conducts new employee orientations. Continues to build employee/employer relationship after hire.
- Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
- Completes health/dental/vision, life, workers compensation and long-term disability insurance processes to include enrollments, change reporting and billing. Communicates with service providers concerning routine administration of programs.
- Completes HR checklists and updates HR systems/spreadsheets with employee changes and processes paperwork. Communicates changes to other departments and vendors as needed.
- Communicates frequently with Accounting Department to ensure accurate employee compensation including a biweekly payroll change list.
- On a rotating basis with the Human Resources Coordinator II, conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends any corrective action.
- Takes on an active Administrator role in the online payroll system. Assists managers and employees with timecards and attendance tracking in payroll system. Maintains employee time off records throughout the year by confirming accuracy in payroll system.
- Maintains the employee handbook and human resource policies with updates when approved by the Board and as needed.
- Assists with processing of terminations.
- Oversees the ordering and delivery of employee logo apparel.
- Coordinates the scheduling, photography and processing of employee badge photos.
- Takes an active role in Human Resource special projects and employee events.
- Maintains up-to-date and thorough knowledge of federal and state employment law.
- Maintains current knowledge of and compliance with all Credit Union policies and procedures, including compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and all federal laws and regulations as set forth by the NCUA and other regulatory agencies.

- Attend meetings, conferences, seminars and training courses relating to areas of responsibility.
- Support and participate in credit union sponsored activities.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with employees and vendors. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- Requires high school education. Additional coursework in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or a related field preferred.
- At least one year of human resources experience or financial experience is preferred.
- Intermediate working knowledge of PC applications (Office Suite).
- Human Resources certification (HRCI or SHRM Certification) preferred.
- Proficient spelling, grammar and written communication skills.
- Excellent telephone and communication skills.
