Job SummaryThe Human Resources Generalist ensures that the Survivor Empowerment Center employees are being nurtured and supported through the creation and management of programs, policies, and procedures, and by fostering a positive work environment through effective employee-employer relations. This role reports directly to the Executive Director.The Human Resources Generalist analyzes HR data and handles a wide variety of departmental issues, including staffing, employee relations, compensation, training, employment, labor relations, safety, affirmative action and employment equity programs, and personnel research. The person in this role also advises employee and management personnel on the interpretation of personnel policies, programs, and procedures which contribute to the overall efficiency of the Survivor Empowerment Center.Essential FunctionsManage job recruitment, selection and promotionAssist with job postings and application reviewsManage internal applicationsAssist with interviewing processCreate offer letters and manage background checksProvide orientation programs for new hiresDevelop and oversee employee benefits and wellness programsEnsure employees are timely notified of enrollment eligibilityManage online enrollmentsReconcile and approve invoices for paymentDevelop, promote and enforce personnel policiesEnsure Employee Handbook is legally compliantProvide guidance regarding disciplinary actionsManage employee advocacy and conflict resolutionPerform exit interviews and manage return of propertyPromote employee career development and job trainingEnsure required training is completed and documented Develop and oversee employee compensationAssist with bi-weekly Payroll processingPerform job analysis and manage job descriptionsDevelop and oversee employee performance reviewsServe as the primary contact for work-site injuries and accidentsPrepare and manage monthly, quarterly and annual reports for grants and auditsIncluding ICASA, ICADVA, DHA, VAWA and VOCA programsPrepare HR Summary reports for Board meetingsCreate and maintain HR SOPs for functional continuityEnsures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements.Performs other related duties as assigned by management.RequirementsBachelor's degree in human resource management or related field preferred, and minimum five (5) years' experience in a generalist role, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of various computer programs (Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, Internet, and database systems)basic office equipment (copier, adding machine, fax, etc.)Strong people and organizational skills with the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and give attention to detailSkills in basic administrative duties including typing and filingAbility to communicate orally in conversation both in person and by telephonework well with people from a variety of racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, and age groups, and with individuals who are differently ableddeal with stress-related situationswork in a team setting and embrace the concept of teamworkinteract with others and remain focused while dealing with multiple objectives and timelinesmaintain confidentialityDemonstrated commitment to people and non-violence through previous volunteer work or employment preferred.Willingness to complete required 64-hours of training within 6-months of employmentMust have reliable transportation and applicable insurance5% of the work period is spent traveling (fundraising events, general errands).
