Job Description

Position Summary

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic and operational partner to the business, supporting the full employee lifecycle from onboarding through offboarding. This role owns core HR compliance functions — including I-9 verification, background checks, and workers' compensation administration — while also partnering with business leaders on people strategy, employee relations, and policy development. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable balancing compliance-heavy administrative work with higher-level HR partnership, and able to communicate company-wide HR updates clearly and effectively

Key Responsibilities

Onboarding & New Hire Administration

  • Manage end-to-end new hire onboarding, ensuring a smooth and compliant experience from offer acceptance through first weeks of employment
  • Complete and manage Form I-9 verification for all new hires, ensuring compliance with federal requirements and timely reverification where applicable
  • Submit and track background check requests through the company's third-party background check vendor, following up on results and flagging discrepancies per policy
  • Enroll new hires in medical, dental, vision, and other benefit plans within required enrollment windows
  • Coordinate new hire paperwork, systems access requests, and orientation logistics

Workers' Compensation

  • Manage workers' compensation claims from initial incident report through resolution, serving as the point of contact between employees, carriers, and management
  • Ensure timely, compliant reporting of workplace injuries in accordance with state and federal requirements
  • Track claims status, maintain accurate records, and support return-to-work coordination

Policy & Communications

  • Partner with the HR policy team to develop, update, and refine company policies and procedures
  • Roll out HR communications and policy updates company-wide, ensuring clarity and appropriate change management
  • Support managers and employees in understanding and applying HR policies consistently

HR Business Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to assigned business units/leaders on HR matters, including employee relations, performance management, and organizational needs
  • Partner with managers on employee relations issues, investigations, coaching, and corrective action processes, in coordination with HR leadership and legal as needed
  • Support performance management cycles, including goal-setting, reviews, and improvement plans
  • Provide guidance on compensation, promotions, and role changes in partnership with Compensation/Total Rewards
  • Analyze HR metrics and trends (turnover, engagement, headcount) to inform recommendations to business leaders
  • Support workforce planning, org design, and talent management initiatives
  • Assist with off-boarding processes, including exit interviews and separation compliance
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in the HRIS
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives at the business unit level
  • Participate in cross-functional HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience in an HR generalist, HRBP, or HR coordinator role
  • Working knowledge of I-9 compliance, background check processes, and workers' compensation administration
  • Familiarity with benefits enrollment processes and systems
  • Strong understanding of employment law and HR compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience delivering company-wide communications
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

Preferred

  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification
  • Experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP, UKG, BambooHR)
  • Experience partnering with policy or compliance teams on documentation development
  • Prior experience supporting a multi-site or growing organization

Compensation: Salary: $110000- $160000 + Equity + Benefits ( Healthcare, Vision, Dental, 401k, and Lunch)
