Job Title: Human Resources Manager, Warehouse

General Function:

The Human Resources Manager, Warehouse leads the human resources strategy for the warehouse location, ensuring alignment with organizational goals while fostering a culture of employee engagement, safety, and compliance. This role partners with warehouse leadership to deliver proactive HR support in talent acquisition, workforce planning, performance management, employee relations, benefits administration, training, and regulatory compliance. The HR Manager serves as a trusted advisor, championing programs that enhance workforce retention, drive operational excellence, and build a high-performing, people-centric warehouse environment.
 

Reporting Relationships:

Accountable and Reports to: Vice President, Chariton Distribution Center

Direct Reports: Human Resources Generalists
 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Advises Warehouse Managers and employees on performance reviews, scheduling, benefits, compensation, and employee relations matters.
  • Leads Insurance and 401(k) Plan coordination.
  • Develops and tracks recruiting and retention programs to support staffing needs and reduce turnover.
  • Coordinates employee transfers between warehouse locations.
  • Facilitates the hiring process including interviews and placements where applicable.
  • Oversees employee relations cases including disciplinary actions, investigations, and separations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations; regularly reviews and updates HR policies.
  • Conducts new hire onboarding and orientation sessions.
  • Coordinates timely performance evaluations and exit interviews.
  • Conducts wage and compensation reviews, ensuring competitive and compliant pay practices.
  • Processes payroll changes such as bonuses, raises, and adjustments; collaborates with payroll team.
  • Manages distribution of payroll documents and internal employee communications.
  • Prepares employment verifications, manages unemployment and disability claims, and administers leave of absence programs.
  • Supports Workers Compensation documentation and case follow-up; files incident and accident reports.
  • Upholds company hygiene and dress code policies.
  • Oversees accurate entry and maintenance of employee data in all HR systems.
     

Education and Experience:

  • 3–5 years of Human Resources experience, preferably in a warehouse, distribution, or operations setting.
  • High school diploma required; relevant degree or certifications preferred.
  • Basic to intermediate computer and HRIS system knowledge recommended.
     

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform sedentary work involving sitting for extended periods, with occasional walking or standing.
  • May occasionally lift or move items up to 10 pounds (e.g., files, office supplies).
  • Visual requirements include the ability to read computer screens and printed materials, requiring near vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and via written correspondence.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with adaptability to dynamic work environments.
  • Proficient in calculations including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Skilled in interviewing, employee advising, data analysis, and professional correspondence.
