Job Summary

Jefferson Lines is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to direct and coordinate human resources activities and human resources administration.

Working from our Minneapolis office, the HR Manager will manage recruiting and retention, employee development and engagement, worker's compensation claims and support Jefferson Lines' mission and vision through policies and procedures. This is a highly visible role that works closely with all departments to ensure consistency and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Salary: Starting at $85,000 annually.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide full range of Human Resources advice, support, consultation and guidance, including application of HR policies and processes, to assigned departments and employees

  • Demonstrate a commitment to customer service by ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries and requests from employees

  • Maintain ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations

  • Assist in the resolution of employee issues; leading employee relations initiatives and investigations to ensure a positive and fair work environment

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the business through exposure to departmental activities

  • Collaborate with department leaders to execute HR processes and associated activities

Essential Duties

  • Act as a resource to supervisors and managers regarding standard human resource related matters including discipline and termination. Review disciplinary actions for consistency.

  • Maintain and update employee personnel files.

  • Process documents, forms, surveys and reports related to various benefit plans and employment statistics.

  • Develop company policies and procedures.

  • Conduct benefit enrollment sessions and serve as a resource for employees regarding payroll and benefit questions.

  • Answer employee questions related to benefits and human resource policies.

  • Have working knowledge of employment and labor laws/statutes affecting the workplace.

  • Stay current in FMLA, EEO/ AA and other employment and labor laws; responsible for timely filing of various required government reports related to these laws.

  • Coordinate the new hire onboarding and orientation process.

  • Resolve employee relations issues.

  • Create and maintain job descriptions

  • Manage the employee review process.

  • Supervise Administrative Assistant.

  • Manage Human Resource Information System HRIS.

  • Maintain knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations affecting multiple geographic areas.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree plus a minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in a Human Resources environment, preferably in a union and multi-state environment. PHR/SPHR certification desired.

  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Self-reliance, judgement and initiative

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • HRIS experience, Paycom a plus

  • Microsoft Office
