Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public''s access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.
Summary Statement
The Delaware Department of Justice is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resource Advisor whose primary assignment will focus on recruitment, including job posting development, talent acquisition, and position management. This HR Advisor partners with hiring managers throughout the full recruitment lifecycle â providing guidance on posting strategies, sourcing candidates, managing applicant tracking, and promoting employer branding â while ensuring compliance with state and federal hiring policies and internal procedures.
In addition, this role provides cross-functional HR support, including, but not limited to, maintaining accurate employee data in PHRST, assisting with benefit enrollment, leave management (FMLA, workersâ compensation, short term disability, Paid Parental Leave), and ensuring timely payroll entries and leave keeping in eStar. The advisor promotes operational flexibility, supports team collaboration, and performs other related duties as assigned to meet evolving organizational needs.

This position is based in Dover (Kent County) with regular travel to our New Castle County and Sussex County offices, approximately once every other week for each location. Due to the scope of work, this is an in-person role requiring onsite presence to support timely communication, cross-departmental collaboration, and hands-on assistance throughout the recruitment process.
Career Ladder
The career ladder incorporates Human Resource Advisor I, II and III. To implement the career ladder, current employees are assigned to the level for which they meet job requirements and promotional standards. Employees may be promoted through the career ladder in accordance with promotional standards for those levels assigned to an agency. The promotional standards, a selection document under separate cover, set forth the criteria that identify, measure and verify successful performance at each level. Advancement of employees through the career ladder is dependent on an agency/department''s operational needs and distribution of work. Â
Preferred Qualification
The preferred qualification for this position is familiarity with the Payroll Human Resources Statewide Technology (PHRST) system or a comparable Human Resources Information System (HRIS).

One year of experience in providing guidance, direction and recommendations to employees, management or others on inquiries and/or challenges.
One year of experience in applying human resource laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
One year of experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
