We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Assistant to join our thriving team. This is a permanent, full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to our company's growth and success. The successful candidate will have a hands-on role in managing a broad range of HR functions, including payroll, employee relations, and compliance. This position requires a minimum of 2+ years of experience in the field and offers a competitive compensation package.
Responsibilities:
As a Human Resources Assistant, you will:
1. Manage all aspects of the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
2. Handle employee relations issues, such as grievances and disciplinary actions, in a confidential and sensitive manner.
3. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
4. Maintain records of personnel-related data (payroll, personal information, leaves, turnover rates etc.) in both paper and the database and ensure all employment requirements are met.
5. Coordinate HR projects (meetings, training, surveys etc.) and take minutes during meetings.
6. Assist in the development and implementation of human resource policies and procedures.
7. Conduct initial orientation to newly hired employees and facilitate new hire onboarding process.
8. Support the recruitment/hiring process by sourcing candidates, performing background checks, assisting in shortlisting, conducting interviews and issuing employment contracts.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Human Resources, with proven experience in payroll, employee relations, and compliance.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience, required.
3. In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
5. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a changing environment.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
7. Ability to interpret and apply HR policies, procedures and rules.
8. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desirable.
