Human Resources Assistant

Sierra Gold Nurseries is an established agricultural tree nursery based in Yuba City, California. We take pride in the quality of what we grow and in taking good care of the people who make it happen.

We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to join our HR team. The core of the job is managing our timekeeping system. Keeping every employee's time accurate and ready for payroll. Beyond that, you'll support the HR team across a wide range of day-to-day work, from employee records and onboarding to HR reports and trainings. It's a busy role with a lot of variety, well suited to someone who's organized, accurate, and comfortable keeping several things moving at once.

What you'll do

• Run the daily timekeeping process, reviewing and correcting time records, coordinating approvals with supervisors, and preparing accurate records for payroll.
• Distribute and collect timekeeping paperwork across our nearby worksites each morning (daily local driving).
• Keep employee data and personnel files accurate and confidential.
• Support onboarding and offboarding, HR reports, and functions like recruitment, benefits, and employee relations as needed.
• Help with HR meetings, events, and trainings.
• Assist with communication and translation for our Spanish-speaking employees.

What we're looking for

• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Working familiarity with Excel or Google Sheets.
• Some experience in HR, payroll/timekeeping, or a fast-paced office; HRIS experience a plus (we use UKG).
• Strong organization, accuracy, and discretion with confidential information.
• Associate degree or 2–3 years of relevant experience.
• Valid driver's license: this role drives locally between worksites each day.

Schedule & location

On-site in Yuba City, CA. Full-time, typically 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, with occasional earlier starts to support production-shift trainings.
