Human Resources Benefits Specialist
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Schedule: Full-Time | 35 Hours per Week
Pay Rate: $33.00 – $37.00 per Hour
Our client is seeking an experienced Human Resources Benefits Specialist to support all aspects of employee benefits administration, leave management, compliance, and HR operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented HR professional looking to join a mission-driven organization.
Responsibilities:
- Administer employee benefits programs, including:
- Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
- Life and Disability Insurance
- Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
- Workers' Compensation
- FMLA and Leave of Absence programs
- Process and track:
- Workers' Compensation claims
- Disability claims
- FMLA requests
- Leave of Absence cases
- Coordinate and manage annual Open Enrollment.
- Respond to employee benefits inquiries and resolve benefits-related issues.
- Serve as liaison between employees, insurance carriers, vendors, and union representatives.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, HR policies, and OSHA regulations.
- Process claims according to provider contracts.
- Maintain employee medical records, including physicals, PPDs, and related documentation.
- Prepare HR-related purchase orders and reimbursement requests.
- Support additional HR initiatives and projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- 3–5 years of Benefits Administration experience.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR policies, and procedures.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Valid Driver's License required.
Work Environment:
This role supports programs serving individuals with developmental disabilities. Employees may occasionally encounter challenging behaviors while visiting program locations. Training and support are provided, and candidates should be comfortable working in this environment.
