Job Description Summary:

Faegre Drinker has an opportunity for a Human Resources Business Partner based in our Philadelphia office. As part of the Talent team, you will partner closely with firm leaders and employees to align HR strategies with business objectives, support talent initiatives, and foster a positive, high-performing workplace culture. This position will collaborate with other talented individuals who share a passion for doing great work in the best interests of our clients.

Job Description:

What you would do:

  • Provides day-to-day HR support and guidance to leaders on all aspects of performance management, including employee development, engagement, retention, performance improvement, and terminations.
  • Partners with leaders on performance evaluations, compensation decisions, promotions, and bonus recommendations.
  • Reviews performance evaluations for assigned groups to ensure quality, clarity, and constructive feedback; participates in review meetings as needed.
  • Builds strong relationships with leaders and employees to promote engagement and a culture aligned with firm values.
  • Provides support and strategic guidance on workforce and succession planning, including the development of job descriptions.
  • Participates in department and office meetings to understand business needs.
  • Leads and supports employee relations matters, including investigations and disciplinary actions.
  • Guides managers through disciplinary actions, including documentation and coordination with HR leadership and legal as needed.
  • Partners with hiring managers and Talent Acquisition to support recruitment, including approvals, sourcing strategy, interviewing, and offer development.
  • Facilitates effective onboarding and integration of new hires; serves as a resource throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Supports the offboarding process, including exit interviews, unemployment claims, and involuntary separations, as needed.
  • Exercises sound judgment and escalates matters to HR leadership as appropriate.
  • Analyzes HR trends and metrics to inform strategies and improve programs and outcomes.
  • Collaborates with Talent and cross-functional teams on compliance, compensation, leave of absence, accommodations, and other HR programs.
  • Maintains personnel files and ensures accurate and compliant recordkeeping.
  • Stays current on employment laws and industry trends.
  • Continuously evaluates and enhances HR processes to improve efficiency, leverage AI tools, and align with best practices.
  • Participates in Talent initiatives, projects, and other duties as assigned.

What is required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; direct work-related experience equivalent to a degree may be considered.
  • 4-7 years of experience as a Human Resources generalist with consultative/business partner experience in employee relations, recruitment and selection, compensation, policy interpretation, performance evaluation and conflict management strategies preferably in a law firm
  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred
  • Broad knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Technically proficient with Microsoft applications
