Position Summary: The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic and operational partner to leaders and employees across the organization. This role supports organizational goals by providing guidance and expertise in employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, compliance, talent development, and HR best practices.

The HRBP helps foster a mission-driven, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture that supports quality patient care and community impact. This position operates at an advanced professional level and serves as a key resource for department leaders while collaborating closely with HR and leadership on organizational initiatives.

Essential Functions:

  • Partner with the Director, HR to support organizational HR strategies, initiatives, and departmental goals.
  • Serve as a primary HR resource for assigned departments by providing guidance and support to leaders and employees on HR-related matters.
  • Support organizational change initiatives and departmental transitions through effective communication and employee support.
  • Partner with Director, HR to provide guidance to supervisors and employees regarding employee relations concerns, workplace conflict, attendance, performance expectations, and corrective action processes.
  • Conduct or assist with workplace investigations and employee relations matters under the direction of the Director, HR.
  • Coach leaders on documentation practices, performance improvement strategies, and consistent application of policies and procedures.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk employee matters to the Director, HR as appropriate.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of job descriptions, interview processes, and onboarding practices.
  • Support initiatives focused on employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture.
  • Participate in onboarding and orientation efforts to ensure a positive employee experience.
  • Support the HR Director in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Assist with HR audits, reporting requirements, credentialing support, and new hire accreditation-related activities.
  • Support employee and leadership development initiatives through training coordination, coaching, and resource development.
  • Work collaboratively with the Human Resources team and organizational leadership to support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and service-oriented workplace culture.
  • Serve as a professional and approachable HR presence while supporting organizational consistency and accountability.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and employee relations principles.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain professionalism in fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment, compensation and benefit laws, including but not limited to: FMLA, ADA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPPA, FLSA and DOL wage-and-hour laws and regulations
  • Knowledge and understanding of employee rights under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), including protected concerted activity, union-related matters, workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, and employer obligations.
  • Knowledge of standard human resources policies and procedures and the application of them in a working environment
  • Excellent time management skills; self-evaluates the use of time and understands how others may be affected
  • Cultural diversity awareness and skills; respects all people regardless of race, nationality or social standing
  • Ability to work independently (self motivating) and as a team member
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, providers, managers and vendors
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) language skills helpful

Education, Experience and Licensure:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive human resources experience required.
  • Experience in employee relations, performance management, and employment law interpretation required.
  • Previous experience in healthcare, nonprofit, community health, or mission-driven organizations preferred.
  • Experience partnering directly with organizational leaders and managing complex employee matters preferred.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or similar HR certification preferred.
