AvantGarde is seeking an experienced Human Resources Consultant to support a potential client by providing strategic HR guidance, compliance support, and employee relations expertise. The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and provide practical solutions that promote compliance, consistency, and organizational effectiveness.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct HR compliance reviews and recommend corrective actions.
  • Audit personnel files and identify missing documentation and best practice improvements.
  • Review and update employee handbooks to ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and current workplace practices.
  • Evaluate and update job descriptions.
  • Provide compensation benchmarking and market analysis recommendations.
  • Develop onboarding processes and procedures.
  • Revise performance management tools to support meaningful employee feedback.
  • Provide guidance regarding employee relations matters and risk management issues.
  • Deliver training to supervisors on performance management, documentation, coaching, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Provide training on effective communication, emotional intelligence, and leadership development.
  • Respond to HR-related questions from designated staff and leadership.
  • Partner with management to recommend practical and compliant HR solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and Texas employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience conducting HR audits, policy reviews, and employee relations investigations.
  • Experience developing performance management programs and onboarding processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
  • Experience supporting nonprofit organizations.
  • Experience delivering leadership and supervisory training.
  • Compensation analysis and workforce planning experience.

Work Location

Remote with occasional travel, if required.

Position Status

This position is contingent upon contract award.
