    FLSA Status: Salary, Exempt
    Hours per Week: 40
    Salary Range: $50,000 – $60,000

SafeNest serves over 11,000 clients annually and is Nevada’s largest provider of interpersonal violence services.
     
    Job Summary
     
    The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for independently managing and executing day-to-day HR operations for the Donation Center and thrift store workforce. This position has primary responsibility for recruitment, onboarding, employee records, HR compliance, training coordination, and workforce support.
     
    This is an experienced HR position and is not intended for someone new to Human Resources. The successful candidate must be able to manage and create HR processes independently, maintain compliance, meet deadlines, and provide day-to-day HR support to managers and employees.
     
    The VP of People & Culture serves as a strategic and consultative resource and provides oversight for complex employee relations matters, policy interpretation, investigations, and other issues requiring escalation.
     
    Primary Responsibilities
     
    Recruitment & Staffing
    • Independently manage recruitment processes from job posting through hire for retail, warehouse, donation processing, driver, and management positions.
    • Screen applicants, coordinate interviews, conduct reference/background checks, and coordinate employment eligibility verification.
    • Develop recruitment pipelines through workforce development organizations, colleges, community partners, and other recruitment sources.
    • Track vacancies, recruitment activity, and time-to-fill metrics.
    • Partner with hiring managers to ensure timely and effective staffing.
    Onboarding & HR Operations
    • Own and oversee the complete new-hire onboarding process.
    • Ensure completion of employment forms, background checks, eligibility verification, required acknowledgments, and onboarding documentation.
    • Coordinate HR orientation and department-specific onboarding.
    • Monitor onboarding and training completion and follow up on outstanding requirements.
    • Manage routine employee status changes, transfers, promotions, and separations.
    HR Compliance
    • Maintain day-to-day HR compliance for the Donation Center and thrift store operation.
    • Monitor required employee documentation, training, certifications, background checks, and other compliance requirements.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records.
    • Stay informed of applicable employment requirements and escalate potential compliance concerns to the VP of People & Culture.
    • Ensure established HR policies and procedures are consistently implemented.
    Employee Relations & Manager Support
    • Serve as a first-level HR resource for employees and managers regarding routine policies, procedures, and workplace matters.
    • Assist managers with employee documentation, performance concerns, and corrective action processes.
    • Support employee relations matters through appropriate documentation and timely escalation.
    • Monitor turnover and retention trends and recommend opportunities for improvement.
    Training & Workforce Development
    • Coordinate new-hire and required employee training and maintain training records.
    • Support workforce development participants through recruitment, onboarding, training, and placement.
    • Maintain relationships with workforce development and community employment partners.
    • Coordinate volunteer and intern onboarding, documentation, and records as needed.
    HR Reporting & Payroll Support
    • Maintain accurate HR and workforce data.
    • Track recruitment, turnover, onboarding, training, and staffing metrics.
    • Assist with timekeeping and payroll-related HR processes.
    Required Qualifications
     
    Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field preferred.
    • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
    Experience
    • 4–7 years of progressive, hands-on Human Resources experience.
    • Demonstrated experience independently managing recruitment and onboarding processes.
    • Demonstrated experience with HR compliance, employee documentation, and personnel records.
    • Experience using an HRIS and/or applicant tracking system.
    • Experience supporting hourly, high-volume, retail, warehouse, nonprofit, or multi-site workforces preferred.
    • Experience with workforce development, volunteers, or community-based recruitment preferred.
    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Strong knowledge of HR practices and employment compliance.
    • Ability to independently manage HR processes from beginning to end.
    • Strong recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding skills.
    • Excellent organization, documentation, and follow-through.
    • Ability to identify compliance issues and appropriately escalate complex matters.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
    • Proficiency with HRIS, applicant tracking systems, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
    • Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with the Department of People & Culture.
    Performance Expectations

    • Accurate HR reporting and workforce data.
    • Ability to operate independently without requiring continual direction or follow-up.
