Position Summary

Compensation: $150,000 - $170,000 Base Salary
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (or senior executive leadership)

The Human Resources Director is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership across all human resources functions. This role oversees employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, leadership development, compliance, compensation, benefits, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness.

The HR Director serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and managers, ensuring alignment of people strategies with business objectives while fostering a positive, productive, and compliant workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Develop and execute human resources strategies that support organizational goals and future growth.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to executive leadership on workforce planning, employee engagement, organizational development, and succession planning.
  • Provide guidance on talent identification, leadership development, and employee retention initiatives.
  • Manage departmental budgets and ensure effective allocation of HR resources.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Act as a coach and advisor to managers on employee relations matters, investigations, corrective actions, performance concerns, and terminations.
  • Partner with management to drive performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and development planning.
  • Promote fair, consistent, and legally compliant employment practices.
  • Support conflict resolution and foster a positive workplace culture.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Oversee recruiting and staffing processes to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Provide guidance on hiring strategies, workforce planning, and organizational structure.
  • Analyze workforce data and HR metrics to support business decision-making and staffing needs.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Stay current on employment legislation and recommend policy updates as needed.
  • Partner with legal counsel on employment-related matters and risk mitigation.
  • Maintain oversight of leave administration, accommodations, EEO compliance, and workplace policies.

Labor Relations

  • Support labor relations initiatives, including collective bargaining agreements, contract administration, grievance procedures, and negotiations when applicable.
  • Maintain knowledge of labor laws and union-related practices.

HR Programs & Organizational Development

  • Lead employee recognition, engagement, training, and development programs.
  • Oversee HR systems, reporting, records management, and organizational initiatives.
  • Utilize HR analytics to monitor staffing trends, turnover, and key performance indicators.
  • Identify opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness and employee experience.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor HR staff while fostering professional growth and accountability.
  • Establish departmental objectives and performance standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support organizational priorities and business initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading and developing HR teams.
  • HR certification such as SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience in employee relations, performance management, compensation, talent acquisition, and workforce planning.
