Human Resources Generalist

Girl Scouts of Western Ohio is seeking an experienced and collaborative Human Resources Generalist to support the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department and help create a positive, consistent, and mission-driven employee experience across the organization. This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys a broad range of responsibilities and thrives in a fast-paced environment where relationship-building, organization, problem-solving, and attention to detail are essential. The HR Generalist plays a key role in supporting employees and leaders throughout the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, leave coordination, employee relations support, HR operations, and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring prior  HR Generalist experience and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities with professionalism, accuracy, and care. As part of a small and collaborative HR team, this role requires a hands-on approach, strong partnership and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across a variety of responsibilities. 

Location Cincinnati, OH. This position is based out of our Cincinnati Girl Scout Center located in Blue Ash, OH.

 Essential Functions

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

  • Support full-cycle recruitment activities, including posting positions, screening candidates, scheduling and conducting phone screens and interviews, reference checks, and preparation of offer materials.
  • Partner with hiring managers to support recruiting strategies and hiring processes from job posting through candidate selection.
  • Create engaging job postings designed to attract qualified and diverse candidates.
  • Serve as the primary HR recruitment support for seasonal summer camp hiring, including domestic and international staff onboarding activities.
  • Utilize recruitment platforms and sourcing strategies to support hiring efforts, particularly for difficult-to-fill positions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date job descriptions and recruitment records.

Onboarding & Employee Experience

  • Coordinate and manage onboarding activities for all new hires to ensure a welcoming, organized, and compliant experience.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and benefits orientation sessions.
  • Manage pre-employment activities including employment assessments, background screening coordination, onboarding documentation, and system setup.
  • Partner with managers to ensure timely completion of onboarding tasks and consistent onboarding experience across departments.
  • Conduct new hire check-ins, exit interviews, and offboarding activities to support employee engagement and retention efforts.

Employee Relations & HR Operations

  • Serve as a resource to employees and supervisors regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, leave programs, and general employment questions.
  • Support leaders with routine employee relations matters, documentation guidance, workplace expectations, and performance-related processes.
  • Prepare and maintain HR reports and metrics related to recruitment, onboarding, turnover, headcount, and other HR functions.
  • Support ongoing HR process improvement efforts and administrative operations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the organization’s outsourced IT provider for employee onboarding/offboarding technology coordination, credentialing, and equipment management.

Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Assist with benefits administration including enrollments, changes, terminations, and employee benefit inquiries.
  • Support administration of leave programs including FMLA, parental leave, short-term disability, workers’ compensation, and other applicable leave programs.
  • Coordinate communication with employees, supervisors, vendors, and third-party administrators to support timely and accurate leave and benefits processing.
  • Maintain accurate employee data within HRIS and related systems.
  • Assist with annual open enrollment activities, employee communications, and benefits education sessions.

·   Position Details
This is a full-time position, and typical hours of work follow a standard week - Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand and for an exempt-level role. This position is eligible for teleworking, a hybrid schedule of 3 days in-office and up to 2 days from home after successful completion of a 90-day in-office onboarding and training period. Teleworking must be approved by manager upon successful completion of onboarding.

Travel
Travel is primarily within the Council’s footprint (32 counties of western Ohio and southeastern Indiana) to both Girl Scout centers and camp properties during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. Regular travel to the Dayton Girl Scout Center is expected.


Required Education & Experience

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three years of progressive Human Resources Generalist experience required.
  • Proven experience managing full-cycle recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Experience supporting benefits administration and employee leave programs.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Experience using HRIS platforms, applicant tracking systems, Microsoft Office products, and project management systems.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $50,000 - $55,000 and includes a generous health and wellbeing benefits package.
