Summary
The HR Generalist is a dynamic and highly visible role that serves as a trusted partner to employees, managers, and company leadership across the organization. Working directly with the Director of Human Resources, this position plays a key role in attracting top talent, developing employees, supporting performance and talent management initiatives, promoting workplace safety, and fostering a positive employee experience.

No two days are the same as you help shape the employee experience from recruitment through development, engagement, and retention while supporting Ilmor''s commitment to performance, innovation, and excellence.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Recruitment (60%)
- Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts for hourly and salaried positions within Ilmor''s Marine Division.
- Partner closely with hiring managers to identify staffing needs, develop recruiting strategies, and attract high-quality talent.
- Source, screen, interview, and evaluate candidates to ensure alignment with job requirements and company culture.
- Coordinate and facilitate all stages of the hiring process, from requisition approval through offer acceptance and onboarding.
- Deliver an exceptional candidate experience while promoting Ilmor''s employer brand.
Human Resources (30%)
- Support onboarding and offboarding activities to ensure a positive, organized, and informative employee experience.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, programs, and employee communications.
- Assist in the planning and execution of employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and company culture initiatives.
- Support the implementation of policies, programs, and practices that foster a safe, inclusive, and rewarding workplace.
- Provide administrative and employee support for benefits administration, payroll, and timekeeping processes.
- Participate in employee relations matters by assisting with investigations, documentation, coaching, and follow-up activities.
- Coordinate training and development activities and support performance management initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to student interns and internship programs as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee and business information.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
General Administration (10%)
- Coordinate office events and meetings, including catering, vendor management, logistics, and employee communications.
- Maintain employee personnel files and HR records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide general administrative support to the Human Resources department as needed.
- Assist with preparing reports, presentations, correspondence, and other business documents.
Nuts & Bolts
- Location: On-Site, New Hudson, Michigan, with occasional travel to Ilmor''s Plymouth, Michigan headquarters.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Career Path: This position may be filled at the HR Specialist level, with advancement opportunities to HR Generalist based on performance, demonstrated competencies, certifications, and business needs.
- Status: Exempt, Salaried
- Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage effective on Day 1 of employment.
- 401(k): Company-funded 3% Safe Harbor contribution.
- Compensation: $65,000+ Commensurate with experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Human Resources (or equivalent experience)
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification highly preferred
- 3+ years of professional HR experience
- Strong computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat.
- High energy and organized
- Able to work both independently and as a member of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Prior experience dealing with the general public: demonstrated sensitivity; ability to listen and deal warmly and empathetically with a wide range of people.
- Strong interpersonal skills along with excellent oral and written communication.
- Strong command of the English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years of Talent Acquisition experience
- 1+ years of experience working with Engineering and Manufacturing employees
- An appreciation for motorsports and/or boats!
Demonstrated Physical Abilities/Work Environment
Remain stationary for 60%+ of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.
