JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing overall generalist support for the Human Resources function in a manner which achieves plant and departmental goals and objectives and satisfying the needs of the employees. Major responsibilities include payroll, recruiting, new hire onboarding, employee relations, training, HR administrative tasks and overall compliance with applicable Federal and State Laws.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Builds and maintains constructive relationships with employees and supervision within the plant


  • Act as a general counsel and provide assistance to employees and leadership on human resource and job-related issues.


  • Participates in the development of long-range objectives for the department. Recommend innovative human resource policies, procedures, and programs that contribute to achieving the objectives of the company and positive employee relations.


  • Drive process excellence by continuously looking for opportunities to operate more efficiently and effectively.


  • Conduct internal investigations and assist with the progressive disciplinary process and terminations.


  • Coordinate staffing activities for all hourly positions. This includes recruiting, posting & sources jobs, layoffs, and collaborating with temporary staffing agencies.


  • Lead new hire onboarding activities, including but not limited to data entry, personnel file creation, new hire checklists.


  • Maintain complete and accurate records and files including personnel and confidential files for all team members. This includes filing as necessary.


  • Maintain the HRIS systems to ensure organizational changes, new hires, terminations, and transfers are reflected in accordance with payroll deadlines.


  • Work with Tenneco Benefits Center and support employees with benefit issues and questions and assist in benefit enrollments.


  • Assists in the administration of attendance and leave of absences, including FMLA, Accident and Sickness administration.


  • Maintain and update the affirmative action plan.


  • Assist with coordination of company training programs, including recognition of training needs, development of materials, and delivery of training to Team Leaders, Management and Hourly Team members, and documentation records.


  • Coordinate full payroll process for hourly team members.


  • Review and respond to unemployment claims and complete employment verifications as necessary.


  • Prepare reports as needed to provide a clear picture of hiring needs, employee headcount and forecast.


  • Administer and coordinate alcohol and drug testing as indicated by company policy


  • Supports a progressive, professional, and confidential employment philosophy and the maintenance of a union free environment


  • Provide customer service, including assistance, information, education and/or coaching to employees in relation to human resource functions and programs


JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or another related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Minimum of Associates degree preferred

  • SHRM-CP/PHR Certification preferred but not required - if selected, Tenneco will support certification and recertification.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of experience in the Human Resources field.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines including union avoidance, DEI, performance management, recruiting trends, federal and state employment laws


  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees or members of the business community.


  • Ability to effectively present information to employees and the management group.


  • Must be a team player who is results driven, able to work under pressure, has strong leadership skills, high energy, strong organizational skills, is empathetic and able to deal with issues in an open, honest manner.


  • The ability to handle a high volume of confidential information is required


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products

  • Computer literacy and ability to learn, troubleshoot, and optimize new and existing computer systems/programs.

  • Strong conflict resolutions skills


  • Prior work experience in automotive industry preferred.


  • Ability to work with little or no direction, be dedicated to achieving results, and be able to sustain high drive and energy levels under sometimes intense working conditions.

  • Ability to be comfortable with uncertainty or gray areas and make strong, well-reasoned decisions and take smart risks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit frequently for extended periods of time.


  • Ability to move about the facility in both the office and manufacturing areas.

  • Ability to lift 10 lbs occasionally, up to 50 lbs rarely.

  • Ability to travel occasionally, potential for overnight stays.


  • Manual dexterity for computer work.
