The Human Resources Generalist provides administrative and operational support for all Human Resources functions and serves as a key point of contact for the HR office. This position plays an important role in supporting the daily operations of the department while maintaining a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, customer service, and teamwork. The Human Resources Generalist will also serve as backup support for positions within the Human Resources Department as needed.
Responsibilities include responding to employment verification and reference check requests for faculty, staff, and students; assisting with posting open positions on the College website and with external recruiting vendors; and supporting recruiting efforts during peak hiring periods, including conducting phone interviews for select positions. The position may assist with new hire orientation and onboarding activities and provide data entry and administrative support for various HR functions across the department.
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for tracking departmental purchase orders, ordering office and HR supplies, and processing invoices for approval. Additional duties include distributing electronic surveys for current and exiting employees, including engagement and exit surveys, and assisting with the planning and execution of departmental and campus events. This role also supports document preparation, electronic and paper filing, records management scanning, mailings, copying, faxing, and other administrative support duties while assisting with departmental record retention requirements.
This position also assists with payroll-related functions, including data entry for employee and student worker payrolls, and will be trained to process payrolls as backup support when necessary. The Human Resources Generalist partners with the HR Team to identify opportunities to improve departmental efficiency through technology and process improvements. Special projects and other duties may be assigned to support the operational and strategic needs of the department and institution.
