Human Resources Generalist
 

Reports to: Director of Human Resources

Status: Regular Full-time

Pay Rate: Exempt/Salaried ($60k-$70k annually)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

 

 
Job Summary:
Under general supervision and with reasonable accommodation if required, the Human Resources Generalist facilitates the daily operation of the Human Resources department. Functional areas include but are not limited to employee relations (internal and temporary employees) unemployment claims management, investigations (including sexual and other types of harassment/bullying), Workers Compensation support, Affordable Care Act/external employee benefits administration (Essential Staff Care) and assist with Applicant Tracking System (Avionte) management. Also assists with internal on-boarding process, interviewing, specialized recruiting projects (high-volume clerical, etc.) and other related work as required. 
 
Duties:
 
  1. Assists with daily operation of HR Department and supports HR Director as required, working to ensure a safe workplace, and maintaining the corporate culture through application of Core Values and compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations.
  2. Meets with internal and temporary employees to assist with issues and concerns, answering HR related questions, initiating investigations for violations of company policy and/or applicable employment law, including asking of appropriate questions, determining existence of witnesses, video, and other evidence, and obtaining statements.
  3. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary and termination meetings when required.
  4. Manage unemployment claims process for all states, examine claims determinations, and file initial and Higher Authority appeals when necessary. Maintain unemployment tracking spreadsheet and monthly/annual statistical reporting on all claims completed.
  5. Manage drug screen and background check programs and schedule/run drug screens and background checks when required.
  6. Perform document audits of new hires to ensure compliance with company policy and applicable law.
  7. Use Avionte ATS Coordinator and performs searches for candidate availability, email and text blasts, and other HR and recruiting-related communications.
  8. Function as an Administrator on BambooHR HRIS/HRMS system.
  9. Monitor E-Verify/conduct compliance audits to ensure that governmental standards are being followed by internal staff and resolving any existing issues or questions.
  10. Communicate with clients as necessary (employee status, etc.)  and provide completed safety orientations, non-disclosure agreements or other necessary documents to clients who have requested them.
  11. Assist with onboarding of new internal employees including workstation set-up (computer, phone, network credentials) and order GPS apparel, business cards, name tags, etc. as necessary.
  12. Operates as permanent member of the “Fun Team” to recognize employee birthdays. Work anniversaries, celebrations and assist with coordinating other company events. 
  13. Support, as necessary the Workers’ Compensation program, including scheduling appointments and transportation.
  14. Proof payroll on a weekly basis and assist with the payroll process when needed.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by HR Director and senior management.
 
Education and experience:
  1. Associate or bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years’ experience, or an appropriate combination of education and experience.
  2. HR certification (SHRM or HRCI) preferred.
  3. Ability to always maintain absolute confidentiality and act with the highest degree of integrity.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  6. Utilize independent judgment to plan, prioritize and execute diverse workload on a timely basis.
  7. Possess high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and ATS software (Avionte, etc.)
 
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, keyboard and to reach with hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear.
  2. Occasionally must lift to 20 lbs.
