Vision for the Role: We seek a motivated and faith-driven HR Generalist who desires to serve employees with excellence, compassion, and integrity. This role helps steward the employee experience-from recruitment to development-ensuring that every staff member is cared for in a manner that reflects biblical principles, Christian unity, and our mission to share the love of Jesus Christ.

The Role:

HR Operations

  • Support HRIS and daily HR processes with excellence, accuracy, and a heart for ministry service.
  • Maintain confidential records in a manner consistent with biblical integrity and stewardship.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Assist with recruitment, ensuring applicants experience a warm, Christ-centered introduction to Hume.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities that help new staff feel welcomed, equipped, and spiritually supported.

Employee Relations

  • Respond to HR questions with grace, compassion, and professionalism.
  • Encourage a healthy, Christ-like workplace culture grounded in respect, unity, and biblical principles.

Benefits Administration

  • Support staff in understanding and navigating benefit programs with care and clarity.
  • Provide timely, servant-hearted assistance to employees with benefits questions.

HR Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws while modeling honor, fairness, and ethical decision-making.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with discernment and Christ-like humility.

Performance Management

  • Support managers through performance review cycles with clear communication and gracious guidance.
  • Help ensure performance practices reflect both accountability and Christ-centered encouragement.

Training & Development

  • Coordinate development opportunities that support professional growth and spiritual maturity.
  • Partner with leadership to offer training aligned with Hume's mission and biblical values.

Policy Implementation

  • Assist in creating and communicating HR policies that reflect legal compliance and Christian ethics.
  • Ensure staff understand expectations in a way that supports unity, clarity, and ministry alignment.

Health & Safety

  • Support safety practices that care for the physical and spiritual well-being of staff and campers.
  • Assist with training and systems that promote a secure, healthy, God-honoring environment.

Our Ideal Candidate:

Required

  • A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith.
  • Desire to use HR skills to further the Gospel and support Christian ministry.
  • 2-4 years of HR experience as a HR Generalist
  • Strong working knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and relational skills grounded in grace, truth, and respect.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with wisdom, discernment, and biblical integrity.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, Google Documents, and database management.
  • Agreement with Hume's Statement of Belief and willingness to uphold the Standards of Conduct.
  • Ability to live on-site (housing available).

Preferred

  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Experience serving in camp, ministry, or nonprofit Christian environments.
  • Strong project management skills with a heart for servant leadership.

Salary: $50,000-$65,000/year
