About the Agency
The mission of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is to conserve and enhance Mississippi's wildlife, fisheries, and parks, provide quality outdoor recreation, and engage the public in natural resource conservation. The Agency is organized into seven bureaus: Law Enforcement, Freshwater Fisheries, Mississippi Museum of Natural Science (MMNS), State Parks, Support Services, Conservation Programs, and Wildlife. About the Position
The Human Resources Generalist provides professional HR support for agency operations by administering workers' compensation claims, coordinating contractual employment processes, conducting employee orientations, and leading special HR projects. This position serves as a resource on human resources policies, procedures, and compliance requirements while supporting agency leadership and employees. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records in systems such as MAGIC/SPAHRS and NeoGov and collaborating with various agency divisions to ensure effective workforce operations. The role requires considerable independent judgment, strong organizational skills, and advanced Microsoft Excel expertise, including data analysis, reporting, auditing, and workforce-related record management.
What youll need to be Successful
Clear and concise communication is essential to coordinate activities, obtain resources, and exchange information. The ability to adapt quickly, be courteous, and maintain strict confidentiality. Excellent computer skills, and efficient use of MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are necessary to successfully perform in this role.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of experience. Hiring agency preferred qualifications: A bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field, and a minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in human resources administration.
