Starting Salary Range: $63,300.00 - $74,700.00
Position Summary:
The Human Resource Generalist is responsible to fulfil the role of leadership coach, employee advocate, recruiter, employee and labor relations specialist, compliance expert, HR project manager and point of contact for all HR needs. As an experienced HR professional, this role requires strong influence and conflict management skills, and the ability to navigate unforeseen circumstances with excellence.
Essential Functions:
•Responsible for employment policy compliance ensuring all policies are up to date, properly trained and implemented, and supporting management in employee accountability.
•Functions as recruiter for assigned areas including but not limited to: manage applicant tracking system, recruit and screen candidates, and manage the interview process.
•Manages and oversees employment offers, pre-placement requirements, onboarding and orientation programs.
•Possesses sound cross functional HR knowledge needed to administer and execute human resource programs by working collaboratively with the HR team, including but not limited to: compensation, payroll, benefits, retirement programs and leaves; grievances and disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; organizational change management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
•Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
•Develops and maintains position descriptions in coordination with departmental management or other appropriate staff, including compensation recommendations and performance development throughout employment life cycle.
•Develops and maintains Memorandums of Understanding and supports and consults on labor relations and collective bargaining agreement matters.
•Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
•Serves as Project Manager for HR projects such as automation efforts, process improvements, HRIS, performance management and other business needs as identified to obtain and maintain efficient HR operations.
•Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies inhuman resources, talent management, and employment and labor law.
•Supports corporate and departmental initiatives such as Be Well 4 Life and the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee.
•Required to follow BWL Safety Manual and wear personal protective equipment as required. Attends training for safety awareness or skills improvement as required by supervisor, BWL or governmental agency such as MIOSHA.
•Expected to comply with all BWL policies and work rules.
•Predictable and reliable attendance.
•Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Job Specifications:
Required:
•This position requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•This position requires a minimum of two years of previous experience as an HR Generalist, Business Partner, Consultant or other cumulative and relevant HR roles.
•On-call rotation for emergency logistics support and after hours support for consulting and supporting emergent employment and labor issues.
•Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the BWL’s HRIS, Applicant Tracking, and talent management systems.
•Working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of human resources administration.
•Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
•Effective time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
•Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
•Effective at managing a heavy workload and multiple projects simultaneously.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
•Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
•Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish good working relationships.
•Must act with a high-level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for the majority of the working day. The person in this position needs to move about inside the office environment. May need to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and/or position the body to reach items on the floor/ below the knee level or reach above head. On occasion, may need to use stairs.
Constantly works in a temperature-controlled office environment.
