Location: Onsite - Portage, MI
Competition: $70,000-$75,000

The Human Resources Generalist provides comprehensive support to the Human Resources department, including employee engagements, supporting benefits administration, HRIS and payroll systems management, workers' compensation, employee relations, recruiting support, onboarding and offboarding, records management, compliance activities, policy administration, and special HR projects. This role serves as a key resource for employees and partners closely with the Human Resources Manager to support organizational goals and enhance the employee experience.


Human Resources Generalist Responsibilities:



  • Administer employee benefit plans and serve as the primary liaison between employees and insurance providers.

  • Educate employees on available benefit programs and assist with benefit-related inquiries.

  • Coordinate and administer the annual open enrollment process, including employee communications and documentation.

  • Manage year-end benefits activities, plan updates, and payroll deduction changes.

  • Maintain accurate employee information within Paychex Flex, including compensation, benefits, promotions, and personal data updates.

  • Serve as the administrator for Paychex Flex and the Replicon timekeeping system.

  • Coordinate all pre-employment, onboarding, and offboarding activities to ensure a seamless employee experience.

  • Assist with recruiting and hiring processes as needed.

  • Process and manage workers' compensation claims and related documentation.

  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with company policies and employment regulations.

  • Assist with HR audits, reporting requirements, and compliance initiatives.

  • Support the review, development, and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate employee engagement and recognition programs, including service anniversaries, employee appreciation activities, holiday celebrations, charitable initiatives, and community outreach events.

  • Administer employee service award programs.

  • Process and record W-2 non-cash fringe benefit tax liabilities.

  • Provide administrative and project support for HR meetings and department initiatives.

  • Partner with the Human Resources Manager on special projects and departmental objectives.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Human Resources Generalist Education & Desired Skills:



  • Bachelors Degree in human resources or related field

  • Experience in Human Resources, benefits administration, payroll, or HR operations.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

  • Experience with HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping systems preferred.

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn and grow within the HR field.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
