Overview

The Human Resource Generalist serves as a trusted resource for managers and employees across all human resources functions, including employee relations, benefits, leave administration, workers compensation, employee engagement, and HR operations. This role has primary responsibility for workers compensation administration and HR operational processes while supporting the broader HR team in delivering exceptional employee service and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Serve as the primary administrator for all workers compensation claims and related processes.
  • Coordinate injury reporting, claim submission, investigations, and communications with employees, managers, medical providers, carriers, and third-party administrators.
  • Manage return-to-work and transitional duty programs.
  • Monitor claim status, documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Track injury trends and provide recommendations to reduce workplace incidents and costs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable workers compensation laws and regulations.
  • Support employee relations as necessary.
  • Process employee lifecycle changes, including promotions, transfers, salary changes, organizational updates, and employee data maintenance.
  • Maintain HRIS records and ensure data integrity.
  • Support onboarding, offboarding, and employee transitions.
  • Provide support and guidance regarding employee benefits programs and leave of absence processes.
  • Coordinate employee communications and assist with issue resolution.
  • Partners with vendors and internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Participate in employee engagement initiatives, culture-building activities, and HR programs.
  • Support implementation of HR projects and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maintain records and documentation in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare reports related to workers compensation, HR operations, and workforce metrics.
  • Assist with audits and compliance reviews.
  • Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, company policy, and regulatory agency standards.
  • May be required to drive vehicles, be insurable with our auto insurance provider, and complete company vehicle training.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, including 3-5 years Human Resource Generalist experience. Experience administering workers' compensation programs and return-to-work processes preferred. Working knowledge of employee relations, leave administration, worker's compensation and HR operations. Experience with HRIS or ATS systems required. SPHR/PHR preferred.
