Join a Leading Manufacturing OrganizationWe are recruiting on behalf of a well established manufacturing client seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to support multiple locations in the Flint, MI area. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic and hands on Human Resources professional who thrives in a manufacturing environment and enjoys partnering with leadership to build a strong workforce while ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies.
The Human Resources Manager will oversee all aspects of Human Resources, including employee relations, labor relations, recruiting, benefits administration, compliance, performance management, and employee engagement. The ideal candidate has previous manufacturing experience and a strong background working within a union environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a working Human Resources Manager by leading and supporting all Human Resources functions.
  • Partner with leadership to develop and execute Human Resources strategies that support business goals.
  • Lead recruiting, hiring, onboarding, employee retention, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Manage employee relations, investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Support Manufacturing and Plant Managers with grievance investigations and responses.
  • Participate in meetings with union representatives to resolve labor issues and grievances.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Review and update Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Partner with senior leadership and legal counsel on Human Resources best practices.
  • Maintain current knowledge of employment law, OSHA regulations, and Human Resources trends.
  • Administer company benefit programs, including the 401(k) plan.
  • Assist with Workers Compensation claims and employee injury investigations.
  • Prepare reports related to hiring, turnover, and other Human Resources metrics while identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee employee personnel records and ensure compliance with I 9 documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate with the FMLA third party administrator and assist with leave administration.
  • Respond to unemployment claims and attend hearings as required.
Qualifications Required

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using Human Resources Information Systems or the ability to quickly learn new software.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources management experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting union collective bargaining agreement negotiations.
  • Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
Work Environment
  • Office environment with frequent visits to manufacturing facilities.
  • Regular presence on the production floor.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
  • Must be willing to wear required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Ability to travel between multiple company locations.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Occasional lifting of standard office items.
