Human Resources Manager

Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining processes that support organizational objectives, overseeing the implementation of Human Resources programs, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, and addressing day-to-day employee and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition

  • Partner with site leadership to identify staffing requirements.
  • Utilize established recruiting practices and procedures while developing location-specific hiring strategies to attract and retain qualified talent.
  • Build relationships within the local community to support recruitment efforts and access a diverse, skilled workforce.
  • Manage employee onboarding, orientation, training needs assessments, and development initiatives.
  • Oversee employee separation processes, including conducting involuntary termination meetings when necessary.

Payroll, Benefits, and Leave Administration

  • Manage payroll administration for all employees, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Provide regular workforce headcount reporting to management.
  • Ensure paid time off (PTO) records are maintained accurately.
  • Administer employee leave programs and processes.
  • Coordinate annual benefits renewal activities with third-party administrators, recommend plan changes when appropriate, and communicate benefit information to employees.
  • Support risk mitigation efforts by maintaining compliance with employment-related requirements and best practices.

Compliance and Employee Relations

  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures that align with organizational standards and comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Stay informed of regulatory changes, industry trends, and Human Resources best practices.
  • Maintain compensation structures and pay practices, including supporting and documenting any approved exceptions.
  • Oversee retirement plan administration and audit activities through third-party providers.
  • Keep leadership informed of developments in Human Resources regulations, policies, and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all required employment, labor, and government reporting obligations, including but not limited to EEO, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, Department of Labor requirements, Workers' Compensation, and related regulations.
  • Prepare, manage, and submit required reports, including ACA, Affirmative Action, EEO-1, VETS-4212, and other legally required filings.

Leadership and Organizational Development

  • Coordinate and facilitate Human Resources training programs for managers and employees, including workshops, handbooks, manuals, and related resources.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on communication, feedback, recognition, employee engagement, and supervisory responsibilities.

General Human Resources Management

  • Serve as a resource to employees and managers regarding workplace and employment-related matters.
  • Support employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture initiatives.
  • Supervise and develop Human Resources team members, as applicable.
  • Communicate policies, procedures, programs, and employment-related regulations to employees.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and facilitate resolution of employee concerns and complaints.
  • Provide guidance to managers regarding performance management, corrective action, and employee development.
  • Oversee employee personnel change processes.
  • Partner with operational leadership to support workplace health and safety programs, ensuring policies and procedures are maintained, communicated, and followed.
  • Lead and/or support compliance with health and safety regulations, including OSHA requirements.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience, including at least 2 years in a Human Resources leadership role.
  • Experience and knowledge in payroll administration, employment law, compensation, workforce planning, recruitment, organizational development, employee relations, safety programs, employee engagement, and employee development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships and provide coaching to employees and managers.
  • Proficiency in Human Resources metrics, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and workplace practices.
  • Experience administering employee benefits, retirement plans, and compensation programs.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
  • Five or more years of Human Resources experience.
  • SHRM certification.
  • Experience within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting new facility start-up activities.
  • Experience with Paylocity or comparable HRIS/payroll platforms.
